i guess i liked it for the message, which i thought was going to be a basic "lol everyone is glued to their phones these days"

I have been rewatching loads of *wipes and HTVRYL on youtube. Charlier Brooker is great. But I dunno if I should try watching Black Mirror if it's as depressing as it sounds.

Well the twist explained some of my problems (the bad acting, the white girl being too well made up, the same two hunters appearing constantly) and replaced the existing preposterous plot with one that is possibly even more preposterous.

Over all the concept has the makings of a ten minute long horror short ala The Lottery and didn't stretch to 40 minutes. Definitely the weakest piece of writing I've seen from Charlie Brooker, who I'm a big fan of.

I thought it was... well-executed, in the way a three point turn in an oil tanker could be well-executed, but probably never elegant.

The feel for me was something like 90s television for teenagers just with a bit more threatened mutilation.

it just felt sorta weird and incongruous with the rest of the episodes

like its "message" just felt really hamfisted? and everything around it felt clumsy

I don't even know what the message was supposed to be. Cruelty is bad?

well, the thing they were punishing her for is exactly how they were punishing her. bit of a anti-daily mail kill the pedos message i guess

I'm not sure there was intended to be "a message". If anything I reckon it was supposed to be open to you to think "oh this is a good idea, why don't we do this?" if you happen to be that way inclined.

I certainly don't think that the idea that one might design a punishment to 'fit' the crime originated with the Daily Mail or particularly recently.

I guess what I mean is that mindset is too much of an obvious target to bother to go to the effort of making 40 odd minutes of television to point out that it's a bit bad, if there was a message maybe it was "look, people really think this way, what are you going to do about it?"

Oh, I thought the message was supposed to be justice in an "eye for an eye" kind of way too!

Hmm, so far the series has been okay but not like the first which was much stronger.

Just realised Tyers from Spaced was one of the main characters!
