Time for a new computer...

Well, it's that time again, I have to build a new computer. Unfortunately, I've been mostly out of the loop on hardware advances for the last two years. What are the good CPUs out? I hear good things about the Intel Core 2 Duo, however I've always been more of an AMD man myself. Does AMD have an equivalent yet? I'm looking at processors somewhere between $300-400.

    AMD doesn't have an equivalent yet. Intel Core 2 Duo is incredibly good for its price/performance.
