Looks like Team Meat are finally revealing what their next game is all about next week. Been a lot of teaser info about it, looks weird as usual and there are lots of cats, but how things actually play hasn't really been discussed yet.
GalCiv 1 was just added to the Indiegala, making it a pretty decent bundle. Groupees is adding Air Bucaneers if it sells a decent chunk more to their bundle.

Good bundle, but I want to know what those other two games are going to be.

If you mean the indie gala bundle I think they will just be soundtracks rather than games.

Wow, Ys I is a blast. Looks great (if you are into sprites and pixel art), sounds great and is a dream to play. And so many presentation options. I've enjoyed what I've played of Oath a lot, and I have Origin as well but haven't played it at all yet. Ys I feels like a bit of treasure though. I really love what bump combat does for the pacing. I wasn't sure about that mechanic when I first heard about it, but I really like it.

Because I want to put my money where my mouth is and I really want to support this dev and see more from them... here is my Valentine's Day gift to you, my sweet sweet Steam thread:
(closes Saturday night, 7:30PM EST)
Just please only enter if you are actually going to at least try the game as it is one that really deserves to be played. It's that good. I promise.
Congrats to @DaringDirk for winning this! I hope you give it a whirl and enjoy the hell out of it...
As someone who did a stint as a truck driver, I do not understand why you would want to play a truck driving simulator.
The same reason people want to pretend they're a farmer or an airline pilot.
That reason being, "who knows, but it's fun".
But the game also has a business management aspect that's appealing.
The part that is most appealing to me is driving through the European countryside with European radio stations. It's the closest I'll get to being a real European, I think.
Has anyone played Impire? Looks good and I'm impressed it's like the third best seller on Steam right now despite not having a ton of word of mouth, especially while a sale is going on.

Just played a few hours of it... not sure what to think at the moment. I'm only in the second chapter of the first act or what ever, but resource management seems odd and the tutorial doesn't go into any great depth about it.

It looks like Dungeon Keeper. Does it play like Dungeon Keeper? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts as you play through.
Speaking of The Showdown Effect. Everyone should totally buy it. It's almost Smash Bros. esque in a weird way. Plus it's made by the Magicka devs. It's not technically out yet but it's still stupid fun.
Well, invite to the Penny Arcade Community, Ive being seing those posts and well, a bit sad I cant do nothing more and see them from the outside By the way, Amnesia is worth buying, first day isnt that great, second, and playing a bit in the character, it touches your nerve. Ill have to save to money for the Crusader Kings II, how is it? I like Total War games, so, is it near comparison?

Crusader Kings II for $10 is a definite buy now, been looking forward to that game.
When I played Mount and Blade, the thing that I loved the most about it was the politics and intrigue of medieval times, so I'm looking forward to that.
Hello Steam thread... I'm back after too much money and still a GTX460 1GB that's my bottleneck, but I'm back and can't decide on a game ot play after 2 weeks of no games!

But, could you go deeper on the game? Ill probably wait for the end of year sale but who knows, is it really a must buy?
It's pretty different from the Total War games-- less of a focus on straight-up battles, and more of a focus on medieval-era politics and relationships. From what I've heard, you can basically follow a character through an entire dynasty and shape their life. It sounds really good, but not necessarily in the same way that Total War games are good.

Start with the strategic map of a Total War game. Now take your generals and agents from pre-Empire TW, flesh them out more, make them all self-serving bastards and base a game around them.
The game is very open ended with no set objectives, only a game over if you die with no dynastic heir, and for most players, conquering the map is just never going to happen anyway given how messy succession crises get. Instead of controlling a faction, you only are responsible for a dynasty and only control one character at a time. Other characters will help or hinder you in various ways. This often involves slander, jockeying about for landed titles, and murder. As an example, I started up a game earlier today after not having touched it in a few months. The life of my second character ends with a message about being assassinated via poisonous snake. As I take over control of my heir, I get a message proclaiming that my new character's plot to assassinate my previous character was a rousing success.
Total War is built on simulating historical warfare. Crusader Kings is built on simulating historical dickery.
Looks interesting enough, how is diplomacy developed?
Characters all have a diplomacy skill. Like all skills, this gets affected by the traits a character has and their spouse's and chancellor's skills. This skill provides the baseline for how other characters feel about you.
Now add in the effects different traits have. Brave characters think less of craven ones. Proud ones don't get along as well with humbles ones. Crusade veterans tend to like each other. Bishops despise traits that reflect the seven deadly sins. Catholics and Orthodox Christians don't get along the best, especially if one party is zealous, but despise Muslims and Pagans much more.
Then add in what a character has done. Vassals will hate a liege that is tyrannical. Gifts of gold help improve relations. Crush a rebellion and the rebels will be much more polite than they were when they started rebelling. Having known involvement in an assassination will make the victim's family think less of you. New rulers are less respected (a factor in succession crises) while long reigns engender respect.
Then add in character desires. A count that wants a ducal title you have will hate you for it. Same with anyone second or third in line for a title you hold. Grant someone a landed title or help them press a claim for it and they'll love you for it.
This doesn't get into alliances (tied into marriages and disappearing when those marriages are no longer around), the positive or negative effect your chancellor and court chaplain can have, or the various random events that can affect the opinion of the court. The game is centered around the relationships between characters so diplomacy is very involved.

Congrats to @Burtletoy and @ToyD for winning Nimbus and Glow Fish.
Thanks! Was a title I hadn't heard of and am looking forward to it!
edit: Also, does the overlay keep fail to open up for anyone else lately?
Yes, it wouldn't open for me last night.

It's funny. The overlay works with Starcraft 2 but won't work with Diablo 3.
Probably.
What the shit am I supposed to do with that?
EDIT: Got it, alt+enter into window mode, close the stupid tab, alt+enter back into fullscreen.
I wish the Steam browser had a popup blocker...
When I last played a Blizzard game, I found the overlay worked only if you didn't use the Blizzard launcher. It's been a few months though.

OH MY GOD.
If this is out for the ps3 I'm sold.
