Mechwarrior 3 wont run on win2k [SOLVED]

I cant start the campaign in Windows 2000, when I try to install I get an error that tells me that while no problems can be seen, MW3 might not run well on win2k. But I have played it on win2k before. If I finish the installation and try to play, the game exits when I start the campaign.

I posted this in the MW3 forums, but figured Id have a better chance of getting a solution if I posted here also. I googled arround a little and I didnt see anything about my problem, but I guess I could have over looked it. Im reinstalling now, so I might fix it by doing that. Any help would be appreciated though.

EDIT: reinstalling didnt fix it.

    Have you tried compatibility mode?

When I type in that command and hit ok I get this message:

LoadLibrary("regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\apppatch\slayerui.dll") failed - The specified module could not be found.

    Soooo... what now?

Wait, I figured that out, but I tried it with each of the compatabilities (98, 95, NT) and I still had the same problem.

    Any other ideas?

Damn, I wish I had words of wisdom to offer since that is indeed a wonderful game. All I can say is that it ran with no problems for me using WinME which as I understand it is basically Win2K+useless bullshit :?

    What are your system specs?

    Windows 2000
    pentium 4
    785,424kb RAM
can't find the specs on my graphics card, but its pretty good

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head (Im not good with hardware) so anythin else just ask and Ill get what info I can.

I dont know if I said this before, but it lets me play the instant action stuff, I just cant do the campaign. Maybe somethin is wrong with the campaign files?

ME is more like Windows 98 + Evil.

Win2k and WinME are two totally different OS's down to the core.

Ok, someone from the MW3 forums accidentally helped me. He told me to not load the video files because I wasnt getting to them in the game, so I uninstalled and then reinstalled doing a custom install but the AVI files were already unchecked. So I figured if the game wasnt working with them unchecked, maybe with it checked it will work. And lo and behold, it works.

Time to kick some clanner ass!

    Thanks for all the help!
