Roughly 8.5 for most WU's on a PS3. It's taking about 24 for my Core Duo iMac.

    Edit: 65 Work units! Sweeeeet!

I'd like to welcome our newest member - #22... 3.141592653589

Which has fulfilled half of our guarantee of punch... and pi.

Oh no worries about the draws lads, I've got tons of prizes to go around.

It's strange, I've just been called a Sony shill in another thread, but half the shit I have to give away is Nintendo :) Speaking of which, I've got a keen Nintendo belt that'll be going in the pool as well.

The PS3 was saying 7:58 to go with about 8.5% done on a unit. So what's that, about 8hrs 15-20 mins per.

Well I've decided not to run the client on my PC, just the PS3. :( The fan on my computer gets so freaking loud when I'm at 100 percent CPU usage that I have a hard time sleeping. My computer is in my room, see. I'm spoiled by the quietness of the PS3.

Besides my 3.2Ghz P4 HT just isn't what it used to be. I'm looking at getting a Core 2 machine sometime in the future, but until then, the PC folders will have to do without me. I'll still be rocking my PS3 24/7 though when I'm not gaming on it. I have a replacement plan that's good till Dec. 6th of this year so I'm not too worried if it croaks. :) Carry on! Great to see how lively this is.

This folding@home only runs 50% of my CPU, whats wrong with it? Shouldn't it be using all 100% (not that im really that displeased with not running my machine at full capacity all the live-long day)

Edit: After messing with the advanced settings, it is now using 0% CPU, and I even reset everything back to its default.

Are you running windows and have a dual core processor?

If so you need to run two installations of it to use 100% CPU.

I just downloaded the software. It seems like it is doing something on it;s own right now. It says,

    Waiting for Core:
    step 15

Don't know what that means, but right now I have a more pressing concern. How do I join the PA team? I am currently

    Team Number:

Anywhere I click It just brings up a browser at the FAH website.

Also, can I change team later?

I don't quite get how to make it do 100%, it says 667/5000, whatever that means.

*I'm running it on my pc...as it's on all the time, atleast now I can answer "What? Why does it have to run all the time? Do you NOT want a cure for cancer or something?"...sounds less hokey than "Yeah well it's analyzing space noise for space people!"

That's how many frames it's simulated so far. once you get to 5000/5000, you will have completed one work unit.

And just as a blind test - I installed it on my dad's computer in service mode, so that I don't have to manually keep bringing it back up whenever he restarts. He hasn't mentioned anything to me about his computer feeling slower or -anything-, and he's always noticing when his computer slows down the slightest bit.

Yes its dual-core and windows, so I did another install but when I try to run two copies of the application, one says its closing because theres another copy running currently.

Edit: Nevvermind, i'm running the graphical and text clients both at the same time now.

I'll join in on the 3 machines at home, nothing particularily powerful but I'm sure it'll get the job done!

Also, how reliable is the program? Is it likely to crash? Does it interfere with anything? I'm not bothered for myself, just thinking that considering I work for the goverment (tax man...-don't hurt me-) and I used to work on the IT side of things before moving to strictly tax I could throw in a suggestion to the network admins.

Even if it was just this office that'd be about 200+ computers available between 6pm and 7am (They're P4, 3.2ghz machines, so nothing super but not bad).

And if it was more than this office, then that'd be pure awesome.

I'll send off the email now (I'll also pass on the team number in case they are interested :D)

84 units already sweet! Im almost done with my third WU now!

Not that I have a prayer of winning anything in a draw lol horrid luck with things like that. I could be the only name in the hat and id still lose, it defies logic but who knows.

I might try talking to my boss at Target to see if they would install it there as well, probly not but its worth a shot, will let ya know how it goes.

Just started folding yesterday, I'm finally making good use of my dual core PC! ;-)

That's not really why I'm posting though. I don't know if it's an error or if someone's cheating or I'm making a fuss over nothing but ngoede has a ridiculous number of WU completed and the score and active processors makes it kinda suspicious.

I know that some of the guys who work at Pixar got accused of cheating, too. Only they were using their render farms for it when they weren't actively being used to render their movies. Therefore, they had ridiculous scores.

Yeah, but this says one processor -- a render-farm would have hundreds.

Happililelf, it's an Intel box. I do not own a ps3. I was looking to stress test a new water cooling solution and let it run through the weekend. I also tested the beta smp client on a pentium d 950. I'll drop back to just the 4 core box until I have to do shock testing on it. (It probably won't survive.)
My Cpu numbers are likely to change often as I have different systems every day.

    Peace.
