Fun stuff to do with hosting?

I've recently signed up to Host Monster, which supports everything and has loads of space and bandwidth. The primary use for the hosting is a website for a society I'm part of, but apart from that, I'd hate to feel it's going to waste.

Is there any kind of awesome stuff I can do with a remote Linux server with all the bells and whistles?

I'd rather it NOT be illegal, of course.

    Can you get a remote command shell, if it's a UNIX or Linux machine? If so, I can recommend a couple things. :-)

    I don't know how I'd find that kind of thing out, though.

    EDIT: It's got SSH. Is that what you're talking about?
