Felt I should finally roll out this thread considering I keep blabbering about this game in OTHER threads.
So, without further ado:
The side scrolling, 2d platforming, shooting hooting MOBA from Romino Games.
As with most every MOBA the game mode is deceptively simple:
rocket down from space to the map, push lanes, kill towers, win game by killing the opponents drill.
However also in line with most every MOBA game in existence the issue with doing that is very much the enemy team, who will likely be wanting to do the same to you.

The game currently possesses 12 'Nauts for you to take control of, each with a unique power set and group of items. Yes that's right, each Awesomenaut has their own set of items as opposed to the large pool of shared items most other games of the genre have. This helps both simplify builds and allows item purchases to have bigger changes including fundamentally changing how they function. Want to farm better with Leon? Upgrade his pulling tongue to grant solar (the currency of the game) every time it hits a unit. Want more utility out of Raelyns snipe? Buy a bigger laser pointer and blind people you're aiming at.
Looking for someone to play with? Here's a list of people who currently own it on Steam next to their forum handle:
@Albino Bunny - Albino Bunny
@Luchaire - Luchaire
@Mr. Mojo Risin - Vaamoose
@Darkewolfe - Lonenut
Though uhm, feel free to PM me for inclusion on this list. I don't want to dump people on it who might not be as interested in getting together.

The trick is to play with mostly guys you know, that way anyone being an ass hat you can just laugh at.
Also which 'Naut you playing mostly?
I am an equal-opportunity sucker. I suck with all of them equally.
More to the point - I only have 3 available yet and none have clicked with me. I'm just going to plow through until I unlock one of the girls and try to adapt to the gameplay for that character (I forget the names, sorry).
The three starters are:
Froggy G, bruiser extraordinaire
Lonestar, king of pushing
Clunk, the tanky dude
@Darkewolfe it's actually your display name. So I can get that.
The two female 'nauts might be a bit disappointing if you're new honestly.
Both Raelynn and Coco are designed to be roamers and burst harrassers (though Rae can do a ton of OTHER stuff too, because she's weird) and as a result are kind of fragile and high skill cap. Still if you want Rae tips when you unlock her she's my current main so I can probably help there (don't pick up any +solar things on Cuddles or the Protoblaster mainly).
The guy who drops eyeball turrets is horseshit broken, though, or at least I have no idea how to deal with him. Fuck stacks of three eyeballs in the jungle where they can shoot all my creeps or insta-gib me.
Gnaw? Yeah they're nerfing him next patch.
As someone who played quite a bit of him back when his upgrades were balls to the wall expensive (most were 250 solar) his strengths are pretty much purely area denial. Which is a REALLY BIG DEAL in this game.
The main way you can counter Gnaw is with someone who has consistent ranged nuking potential.
Rae is his fucking bane. 80 damage snipes in the mid-game will gib un-upgraded weedlings and make Gnaw very soon run out of HP.
Also another key thing to check with him is that he doesn't have a plant up in the jungle, if he does then he'll constantly be getting free HP from it and denying you the ability to go get HP from jungle. Important to keep that particular weed down.
Also if you like Leon, team up with a Yuri player and do mine stacking in bushes before pulling them into it with Tongue. It's very gimmicky but good for a few laughs before the opposition catch on.
Oh man I was trying out yuri yesterday and this sounds like so much fun hahaha.
Like I said it's kinda gimmicky but when it works it's the stupidest thing.
I think, so but I literally only played three hours total! Maybe I'll get into it this time; League has taught me that MOBA games are the best games, but you can't play League all the time*.
IE she pisses you the hell off if you have no way to reach her.
Trying to think of someone with a lulu style thing... I guess Coco's board trail is the uber slow of the game.
The silhouette of the new naut looks promising, actually. :bz
Similar to how Skuldir's Simon's Naut and Vinnie and Spike is voiced by TB the new Naut as far as anyone can tell is going to riff of the 'space butterfly' joke Jesse Cox does. Though that's the only info I have.
EDIT: Also running Gnaw/Voltar and turtling the fuck out of your drill for fifteen minutes is the most ass holish thing I've seen in a LONG time. Seriously guys, you lost, it's kinda funny laying seige to you for a little while but by the time Voltar's level 63 from healing/solar conversion alone you're just wasting time.
It really doesn't help that for some reason they took Piggy Bank away from him.
Basically doing that you could win early with your sheer shove power (especially on space station with only 1 lane to start) but come late you're basically fucked.
EDIT: They took Piggy-bank away from Voltar because it was too good on him. Voltar carries pretty hard so his early 'oh I'mma pussy medic' game is pretty justified in my opinion.
Why would they ever think a single lane is a good idea.
To me it's:
Ribbit IV: Best map, great design but standard
Then the other two tie for second because:
Space station is FUN, but not very good. Like if you can get into 'here is a mosh pit, be a man' it's kinda enjoyable but I wouldn't want to do multiple games in a row on it.
The sand worm one is actually pretty good, just I think the worm cuts off a lot of early game pushes. Though I do like the long lanes making the game a bit more risky.
Have someone like Clunk or Gnaw babysit the jungle, let Rae just poke down the lane with her death laser.
Just saying.
Rae's going places.
Basically they want to make it so Rae's don't always go damage/range/damage as their skills of choice.
In Awesomenauts they are.
EDIT: @Maddoc on the other hand Voltar's Heal/Solar is about the best Solar/ability conversion there is.
Mine spam
Slow field not heal
Upgrade laser
Hover above their turrets laughing like the maniacal ass hole monkey you are spamming mines to wave clear and lasering the turret to death from your seat of immortality.
Yeah he snowballs really well, you just have to make it through that early game period where you can't really do anything.

But so far I am really digging Genji. So might have to try hopping on and playing some multiplayer... Assuming I can tear myself away from the ME3 Multi.
