wireless mouse turns on, turns off

so a couple of weeks ago i ordered this cheap ass mouse from amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Daffodil-WMS335B-Wireless-Optical-2-4GHz/dp/B0055Q0O8M/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1362344941&sr=8-8&keywords=daffodil+mouse
it worked pretty well! for a few weeks - now, it doesn't work even a little bit

when i flip the switch from off to on, 9/10 times the laser turns on for about half a second, then goes dead. the other tenth of the time, the light will stay on, but my computer won't read any input from it. the light does react to changes in what it's reflecting off of, i think, or maybe it's an illusion.

i've uninstalled the device, reinstalled it, changed the batteries, smacked it on my palm, and i can't get anything to work. any ideas? did i just get what i paid for?

    A few things:
First, have you tried to reconnect the mouse to the tab, and/or fiddling with the tab?
Second, see if the issue is the USB port itself.
Third, the customer reviews for 3, 2, and 1 star sound like they have the same issue as you. So... maybe it's just a bad mouse?

On my wireless mouse, there's a little button that lets the mouse know it should start working - when the button is pressed in by the dongle the mouse won't work at all, because it assumes you wouldn't be using it that way (with the dongle stored in the mouse). On mine, that little button gets stuck sometimes and I have to press it again for the mouse to recognize that the dongle is not actually in the mouse.
