Problems with C.D. ripping.

frustrated63frustrated63 Registered User new member
I have at least 2 or 3 sets of c.d.'s bearing the same title [i.e. American rock'n'roll anthems 3 separate c.d.'s in a 75 track set.]
The first records fine, then when the second or third is put in to rip, it reproduces the first again....sounds like there a basic solution to the problem for the experienced, but my excuse is i am 63 and doing my best!! Any advice please. [The system i am using is Windows Media Player.]

I would normally encourage you to dig deeper using the tools you already have, instead of just recommending a new tool, but I think in this case that it wouldn't make a big difference. I suspect that there is some confusion in the CD database that Windows Media Player uses.

If you're OK with ripping to MP3, or possibly .OGG or .FLAC, I would recommend you get Exact Audio Copy (which is the best CD ripping software out there, especially if you have any damaged CDs which trip up other software) and just use its access to freeDB to get the track information. If your problem persists, then something really weird is going on, and you might have to enter the track information manually (which EAC makes relatively painless, if you only have to do it for one or two CDs.)

If ripping to MP3, you might have to also download the LAME MP3 encoder. Both EAC and LAME are free.

    Creativity begets criticism.
