Hair styling advice

Over the last few years, my life has changed dramatically. I've gone from wearing at-home clothes all the time to actually putting some effort into my outfit. I've lost close to 100 pounds (which honestly is a little surreal; it's easy to get caught up in the minute day-to-day challenges instead of realizing the drastic changes that have occurred), and for the first time in my life, I'm not obese. My face, which used to break out constantly in dozens of pimples, has cleared up substantially. I still have one or two tiny lightly-colored ones that pop up every week or so, but it is literally nothing compared to where I was at before.

My last hurdle is my hair.

There's nothing wrong with it, per se. It's a very dirty blonde (some people say it is slightly red; most say it's a light brown. I guess it can depend on the lighting) and relatively thick. I used to deal with occasional flare ups of dandruff but I've found a good shampoo+conditioner combo that keeps it under control.

I just can't seem to settle on a hairstyle.

I go to a top-rated barber, the highest rated in my city, and he's cut my hair three times now. They're the best cuts I've had, in terms of quality, and I'm happy with the styling, but I just can't find one I want to keep. I change it every time. I bring in pictures of stuff that looks good, but he always says "ah, the guy in this picture has hair that is much straighter than yours" or "much curlier than yours" so it seems I can't bring in a proper picture that features a style that would work with my hair. And I want to find one that I can keep.

My hair has this frustrating kink that appears about every inch or so, and it makes it hard to do anything with it without using a substantial amount of product, it seems. Ideally, I'd like a hairstyle that would need little-to-no product. I like combing my hair back, perhaps in slightly different angles, and letting it dry to its natural way. I like short-to-medium length hair.

This is what my hair looks like now. (though slightly shorter).

I know the shape of my face and whatnot play into which hairstyle will work and which won't; there is no universally good hairstyle. But I can weed through the ones that wouldn't fit me, along with my barber; what I need are just suggestions of what I can do with my hair type. That natural kink leaves me at a loss. I can't go to the really curly hairstyles, and I can't do anything that requires straight hair, and I can't seem to find anything else.

Any advice is very appreciated. I would love pictures of hair styles I can look through and maybe bring to him. Thanks in advance.

I hate you and you hate me.

I would be really helpful if you posted a picture of you because really that hairstyle you posted looks fine and like you said "the shape of my face and whatnot play into which hairstyle will work and which won't; there is no universally good hairstyle". We cant really just randomly say hairstyles (that website you linked has hundreds if that is all you want) and to be honest your interaction with your barber makes it seem like you aren't really that effective at weeding through them to find ones that suit you so you are asking for help.
wow that is a lot of words per sentence but it is super late so i am not fixing it.

Honestly, I feel like this is between you and your stylist. You say you are already paying for a good one to trust to tell you what's what.. most of us aren't stylists, don't know you, and will really have very, very little to add. You may actually be best off putting your hair type into GIS and seeing what you can come up with, and then printing out everything you can find and taking those in to see what he thinks will work. I mean, basically you're telling us to do the GISing for you, because without a picture of you that's all we can do. So... just a heads up: unless you feel like posting a picture of yourself or come up with a more substantial request for advice that doesn't involve asking us to do a search you can easily do yourself, I am probably going to close this.

And it seems like all is dying, and would leave the world to mourn

Yikes, I'm sorry for the late response. Life has been very hectic lately.

And I don't have a picture of my current haircut right now, and of course I dropped my smartphone in some mud and killed it last Monday. When I get a new phone, I'll take a pic and upload it. Not sure when that will be, though, so you can lock this now.

And to clarify, I didn't want people to search for me. Just suggestions of styles you already ~know look good if you yourself have my type of hair or know someone who does.
