I think he's referencing the fact it would be hard to not vote someone into office if they ran on the, "my plan for domestic security? Sky battleships!" platform.
I don't see what's so weird about the Gangstas in Space ending leading to the Boss becoming POTUS. It wouldn't be the first time America put a celebrity in its highest office.

It makes more sense really. The "happy ending" of SR3 is the one in which the Saints are heroes and their credibility is restored (Gat would say that the selling out was restored).
It's the "bad ending" which leaves no room for the protagonist to become POTUS. Declaring Steelport an independent city state does not lead to that. It just does not.
yeah but the boss becoming potus doesnt make sense either, it would be like the joker or luthor being potus, any state with any common sense would secede

As much as I enjoyed SRTT, I'm with Lars. To me, Saints Row 2 was much more entertaining because it was relatively normal on the surface and you introduced your own lunacy and anarchy into it. Playing a mostly straight gangsta story while dressed in a hot dog suit felt really subversive and fun. I also thought that Stilwater was a much more interesting city to roam around in with more secrets, interiors, and side things to do. Plus, the customization was light years better in SR2 as well.
yeah, so much was based on emergent gameplay. in SR3 it's all confined and codified into activities
in SR2 you had this burst of 'holy shit, drive a monster truck to the airport and use landing airplanes as stunt ramps. holy shit.'
it's not the stuff they planned for you as a recipe for fun that hooked you
it's putting all these elements in the pot and then setting the mixer on INSANE that hooked you
It basically introduces a lot of additional npcs and makes the different city sections feel more unique. It populates all the node points with special animations like cops pulling people over, protestors, etc so they happen much more often. It also allows for all sorts of crazy customization colors and types to spawn for vehicles. Plus, the npcs are much more aggressive leading to all sorts of fun stuff. I've seen huge gang wars get started in the middle of the street from a simple traffic collision that escalated. I've seen old ladies getting pissed off and tazing cops. I've seen tigers roaming around the streets mauling gang members. I've seen midget wrestlers getting into fights with question marks. It makes Steelport a much more vibrant and interesting place to just tool around in. It's probably my absolute favorite mod (outside of the ones I've released. )
That brings up a good question. What are the current must have mods in your opinion? I have GoS, but that's the only one.
Gentlemen of Steelport is a mod collection featuring work by myself and the rest of the modding community. It's kind of like the base install you want first and then add additional stuff to it. GoS makes everything build correctly and play nice together so you don't have to do arcane command line bullshit to get things working. By default it contains things like mission replay, the ability to customize all vehicles including uniques/boats/planes, reinstates all the sr2 cheats, and a ton of other stuff. You can always grab the latest build from the Downloads section of my site: http://idolninja.com
Sandbox+ allows you to do all sorts of crazy stuff using keyboard shortcuts including teleporting to mission only locations, toggling STAG presence and things like the zombie island, activating superpowers on the fly, listening to radio on-foot, etc: http://www.saintsrowmods.com/forum/index.php?threads/sandbox-for-srtt.1076/

In this world, yes. But it's made pretty clear that the Saints Row world isn't our world. Everything is crazy there. People worship the street gangs who run them over in stolen cars.
Whatever happened to the radio station music replacer mod for SRTT? Is that still being worked on? Is it out?
I have the front end and all the scripting done to dynamically update all the tables, but the other guy I was working with never finished reverse engineering the special audio format that wwise converts the music files into before we can repack with the tools. I'm kind of bummed that he hasn't done much of anything with it for a while now.

The boss is pretty much a Super Villain crime boss. If any state or city tried to escape his America he would be forced to call down the pain to show that he isn't weak. The second you show mercy or weakness the other gangs would move in and try to capitalize on it. Give the people what they want, and crush anyone who complains.
And if Texas secedes he would drop a MOAFB (Mother of all Fart Bombs) on them.
"My opponents will say, 'this man is a maniac! He drove over a school bus in a tank!' But I have faith in the American people. A strong people. A people who know, that for every school bus I crush in a drug fueled orgy of violence, I will destroy TWO of like, whatever foreign or domestic danger threatens this great land with my Desert Eagle, or a baseball bat, I dunno, depends how I'm feeling that day. Also, no taxes, we get quite enough money with our endorsements and prostitutes. Thank you, God bless."

People saying the Boss can't be President...
...have they not played the SR games? I mean, in transitioning from the first to the second game, you get blown up and changing from a standard white male with an American accent to a massive black woman with a Russian accent and neon hair only rates a brief comment about looking a bit different. The second game has you storming the headquarters of a multinational corporation with an attack chopper, kicking in the door to the office of the head douchebag, shooting him in the mouth, and flying off into the sunset in a helicopter. The third game has you fighting zombies, laser tanks, flying fortresses, and working with Burt Reynolds as Burt Reynolds the mayor.
In that context, the Boss becoming President is less wierd than him not being President.

Also if you look at the seal on the car, it is the "Seal of the President of the United SAINTS...." so there is still room for the independent nation

I believe that in the "bad ending," Kinzie says that they're going to be able to build their own Helicarriers. Plus you do have access to a ton of top secret government weapons and technology. So maybe you don't become the President by winning an election.

You own a city through a show of force. Whose to say the boss doesn't take over the entire country through cyberspace and as a side result of beating the dominatrix doesn't turn the Boss into a Mortal Kombat villian. The country falls under The Saints control simply due to the fear of drawing the Boss' Ire.
Idolninja, I demand, DEMAND You change your title to "President of the United Saints of America."
Look closely at the seal, boys and girls. We know which ending is canon now.
Page 2 of this thread, about halfway down. (Removed the @ so that Idolninja doesn't get pinged again for no reason, though I still think he should change his title.)
Again, when the second game had an ending with
The Boss declaring Steelport an independent, sovereign nation and kicking STAG out
and the fourth game's advertising calling you the President and showing you defending steelport both in a virtual world and the real world...
There's a reason I believe the one of the endings is canon and the other is not.

But considering what kind of series this is, both endings could be canon. It would not be too outrageous for them to just break the fourth wall and say that the protagonist replayed the final mission to get both endings.

With the apparent time travel shenanigans in IV... Perhaps that is precisely what happened. Then somewhere along the line, you became president because SR.
"No. We're gonna build a time machine, go back in time, and do BOTH, you hear me!"
Then pierce brings up the paradox thing, asking that if they go back in time to do both, wouldn't they have no reason to build a time machine, and then the boss would reply "It's a time machine. Why WOULDN'T we build it?"

Do you know if VWise does anything other than just convert it to OGG? Have you tested it with just straight up converting MP3s to OGG?
If it was simply in ogg format then we wouldn't need to go through the pain of of the conversion with wwise for the process to work. The end output result is a file with an ogg extension that can't even be played in any media player.

We shall see, but I'm willing to bet at the beginning of the game the events of the Killbane ending are the ending they go with. What happens after that is anyone's guess.
The only way I'd suspect otherwise is if somehow Enter the Dominatrix was written in such a way that either ending would lead to it, in which case SR4 would read your SRTT save data (or have a default option). But again, we shall see.
I'll be honest. As cool as SR2 Shaundi was, no part of me wants to see SRTT Shaundi be anywhere near a game. She was just there to be pissed at what happened with Gat. When the original pictures of her came out, it looked like she had become some super-amazing, super-hot businesswoman. That was NOT the case, so she seemed kind of.. whiny. If the time travel plot lets SR2 Shaundi return, then I'll be in heaven. If it lets Lindsey Lohan's virtual double come back.. well, screw it.
I still want Jenny Jiros/Kwilana to come back.
