Apparently the EtD content is being reworked as DLC for Saints Row IV. Crazy.
I read something from Aubrey from Deep Silver that the DLC is supposed to be something like an EtD director's cut. Maybe like the original version before parts were worked into 4?
Why even bother with a virtual world? Just make one. Its not like a gangster becoming leader of the United States and fending off an alien invasion is believable anyways.

Ok so i admit, SR3 was kind of a letdown for me, since i had enjoyed the 2 so much. But then again when i watch that trailer there's a childpart of me that just wants to groundpound cops car from super high in the air while dodging aliens lasers.
I just want the clothes back. God i spent so much time just fucking around with clothes in 2.
This might be just wishful thinking but I read a comment that the player is wearing his hat tipped forward in this part of the trailer which may be confirmation of the return of wear options. I want to believe but I'm having a difficult time seeing it:
Gat and the Boss did look rather too much like one another during that first Saints Row: The Third trailer, didn't they?
Are you referring to the everyone in Gat mask thing? That was brilliant.
No, he means the original CG trailer that has Loren attacking the Saints Penthouse. There's a scene where Gat takes a bullet for the Boss, but they look way too much alike (I seem to recall one video reviewer who was unfamiliar with the series thinking that the scene demonstrated that you're player-character was going to have some sort of Multiple Man-style duplication power in order to prevent damage to himself).

That reminds me, that area seems to have a bunch of the Tags from SR2. Those were completely missing from SR3 weren't they? (I mean, I know the Tagging Diversion was gone, but I don't think you saw those designs anywhere either...maybe as a tattoo but that could have been a mod I had).
Edit: SR1 had a Hitman mission to kill a guy in a hot dog suit. SR2 had a Hitman mission to kill a guy in a City of Gyros (fast food restaurant) mascot outfit, and during a cutscene the Boss also references having killed the guy in a hot dog suit. That's about the extent of the history that the Boss has with mascots.

It also has the angel/devil statue from the Saints HQ from SR2 as well, but looks nothing else like the underground of the church. Weird.
EDIT:
Yeah, tagging was removed for SRTT. I'm pretty sure that a couple of the designs wound up as tats.
Yeah, but the statue was in SR3 as well (I think every Planet Saints had one).
Then again, there was a significant portion of the underground area that the Saints hadn't yet modified into their Purgatory nightclub by the end of the game, so they could have easily expanded it. I doubt we'd be returning there in this game, unless it was a multiplayer or Horde mode map.
Escort was the worst, I don't want to think about doing that activity without GotR.
Removing the penalty for shooting the news vans and extending the camera time was probably one of my favorite mods. I was almost kind of shocked that I was actually able to make Escort fun to play again.

Sometimes I think I'm the only one who actually enjoyed Escort. Racing around as fast as you can while avoiding all that inconvenient traffic? Fun and a bit challenging, but not too much so.
Even though it wasn't a 'real' activity, the one I missed the most was being able to play Crazy Taxi in Stilwater.
Of course, I really loved me some Crazy Taxi, and this was all that plus I could unlock GPS Shortcuts, put spikes on my tires, or get out of the cab and beat my passenger with a sign post for wanting me to get them across the damn city in three minutes.

I also loved the taxi diversion as well, but my absolute favorite activity was Fuzz. Every single moment playing that was pure gold. I was so sad when I heard it got cut for SRTT.
Yeah, if the "job" diversions had been kept, I could have easily seen FUZZ getting converted into the job you could do when driving a police car if it wasn't going to be a full Activity. You probably wouldn't have the camera man, but it could basically be the same where dispatch would tell you where to go and then after that it'd give you another one and you keep chaining them until you fail like with the Taxi or Firetruck ones.
The... pop-in? is that a term? with cars appearing three car lengths in front of your car made driving in SR2 super frustrating, but Fuzz and the cabby missions were a blast.

In regards to the taxis and stuff, you know how in the first two games you could dial the phone numbers of various businesses and such from the city? Most of them would just be an answering machine, but some would cause stuff to happen (ie. piss off a pimp and he drives over to try and murder you, or call one of the taxi services to have a taxi show up, or call the fire department for a fire truck to show up and so on).
For the longest time, I thought calling a taxi was just a shortcut to me stealing the taxi and playing the Crazy Taxi diversion. I only recently discovered that if you call a taxi and then climb in the backseat a map will pop up and you can tell the driver to take you there.
Not quite as good as the Wheel Woman homie from the first game though, as that was probably the easiest way to start the drive-by diversion.
Speaking of homies, that reminds me of a question for IdolNinja. I noticed in the Gentlemen of the Row mod that Legal Lee was changed into the Vehicle Delivery Homie. I was guessing this was done to make room for the new homies because there must be some kind of hard cap on how many homies you can have?
I was always curious if some of the SR1 Homies could have been reimplemented since most of their hair and outfits are still in SR2, but a hardcap would obviously stop that (and obviously Wheel Woman's functionality couldn't be recreated since I doubt the coding is there, but I was thinking more along the lines of Will or Samantha, or even young Troy or Lin). Sadly, Chicken Ned wouldn't be available since I don't think his Chicken outfit is in SR2.
Edit: And SR3 missed a golden opportunity where they could have established that Chicken Ned was the prior Genkibowl Champion before the boss enters Genkibowl VII.
Edit 2: Heck, the final mission of that DLC should have been a fight where he's there to defend his title, and after you beat him you get him as a Homie.

what is the deal with the Boss and the Saints and their hatred of mascots?
...
Not really, they just hate mascots. Who doesn't?

Seriously, Gat and Boss could be brothers.
Makes sense to me. Probably explains the removal of hoing, and drive by as well.

And yeah, FUZZ really needs to make a comeback.
