[Remember Me] Combo your way up to cyberpunk Neo-Paris. Amnesia included.
Remember Me (formerly Adrift) is an upcoming video game, developed by Dontnod Entertainment and published by Capcom, to be released in June 2013 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows.
Plot
The player controls Nilin (voiced by Kezia Burrows), an amnesiac 'memory hunter', through the streets of Neo-Paris in the year 2084. This dystopian future features a surveillance state. Nilin's former employer, Memorize, erases her memories to neutralize her and she must discover why and how to restore them
Gameplay
Remember Me features exploration, platforming, stealth, and melee combat. The game introduces the mechanic of 'memory remixing': entering and rearranging a target's memories to manipulate them. Players accomplish this by replaying a memory and modifying details to change the target's recollection of the outcome.
I like the aesthetic of the game but the combat system is not that appealing to me. Still, I think if you liked Mirror's Edge, you might also like this game.

Anyone ever play "Oni"? I don't think the games are looking too similar, but I loved that game and the melee combat + platforming in these vids reminded me so much of it, just no gunplay in this one (which can be a cool thing!).
If only it were another genre! I'm not particularly interested in a beat em' up action game. I initially thought the game was going to be a Mass Effect or Alpha Protocol like adventure.
RE: Trailer
Game Informer did a featurette on the game for this month, and the article's author mentioned that the combat seemed to draw inspiration from Arkham Asylum, just with a more technical edge to it. I'm not sure what they mean by technical, but I hope that means awesome. I loved the timing-based combat in the Arkham games, so with a future setting I'm sure I'll be in heaven.
this is one of the very few games coming this spring that piques my interest in any way, so hopefully it will be awesome. its hard to tell with capcom these days though. the trailers definitely have me interested.

In that same article I liked how they described a conversation where you had to hack the memories of someone who had come to kill you to co-operate with you instead.
Goodness I hope this game is good, I've liked everything I've seen so far but you never know.
absorbing too many memories warps your brain and causes mutations set off my bullshit alarm, but whatever, I'll get over it. The rest of it looks super-slick.

Me, too, for many reasons. The dialogue seems super, super hackneyed though, and I'm worried about the plot, and the combat system just seems wayyyy too fiddly for my liking. So much pausing in the middle of the action to re-jigger things.

Yeah. Some of the dialogue was kind of corny but I'm hoping that a contained thing and it doesn't pour into the rest of the game.

I'm picking this up day 1 sight unseen. Maybe I'm gambling here, but it sounds pretty good to me.
Like, a mixture of Assassin's Creed, Mirror's Edge and the Arkham games. I'm hoping that is a recipe for success. Plus, I have a soft spot for this game's development story. Turned down time and time again because the protagonist is a woman. Capcom decides to greenlight it.
I feel like that should be rewarded.

My only beef is that very few people have a french accent in Neo-Paris. I only remember the cop and his issues with his wife talk that way.
I guess multiculturalism won in France. :P

tbh i find the french accents even weirder. I assumed that Translation Convention was in effect, eg, everyone's ACTUALLY speaking French, but we're just hearing it in English because reasons.
anyway yeah I might just buy this JUST because it has a female protag, even if I end up hating it. Because dammit I want more protagonists who aren't Vaguely Unshaven White Dude #42344

For third person games I don't understand why female protagonists are unpopular. I think this game looks great. But then, I like video games. They don't all have to be AAA blockbuster experiences featuring big dudes with big guns getting 9.5/10 ratings from IGN for me to play and enjoy them (for instance, I thoroughly enjoyed Two Worlds).
I doubt this game will do well, but hey, I did my part and pre-ordered it.
I hope people buy butt tons of copies so we can get more female-fronted games. Alas I have no money to spare on the game right now, but any spare funds I get will most likely go towards it.

It's not #42344's fault. He grew up in the shadow of his brother, Vaguely Unshaven White Dude #40793, who has a deeper voice and facial scarring, which is enough to make anyone insecure.
Also, this game looks like a good wishlist sit-upon candidate until I hunger for action again.

Game looks pretty interesting.
Also, older threads on a game are hard to find. Crysis 3 took a while to resurface, it was made like a year ago.

It's sounding better now, though. New IPs, cool style, female protagonist, combo maker...hope this all works out!

Day 1.
so like it's kind of weird for a cyberpunk game to portray the underclass as evil monsters that must be murdered but whatever
This looks like much more of a brawler than I was expecting but I'm not complaining. As long as it's fun, it's fun.

Bzuh? But the trailer specifically says "This underclass of people got addicted to memories AND THEN THEY BECAME MUUUUUUTANTS"
I'm not buying it either.
