You can only kidnap the Offline "NPC" players. However the second someone tries to kidnap a player they become free game for everyone and players who kill the kidnapper will receive bonuses for saving the kidnap victim.
Best bet to not get kidnapped is to logout in your school as there is nowhere for players to sell you.
Although I've yet to be kidnapped myself, but I have kidnapped others.
When you sell a player you get paid in Taels so it is one easy (kind of) way to get the "player" currency.
Edit- AFAIK you cannot kill offline players.
Axen on

Hmmm, though as far as kidnapping and killing gold spammers go, I guess they're probably not past the early, protection phase. So I probably wouldn't be able to harm them anyway.
Execution: If you have 8k+ in Infamy and are kill/captured you will be publicly executed the next day at Noon in the Imperial City. Anyone can come and watch and the name of the person and the time of execution is announced Server wide. When executed, the player's stats are "severely" reduced permanently. :P
Does it reduce your internal skill level, or does it just knock off some of your stat points? I mean, I'm assuming the "permanently" isn't truly permanent, but rather something the player is forced to recover from by leveling again?
I like the idea of a strict penalty to griefers, but I don't know about a penalty that's impossible to recover from.

Permanently reduced as in you will always have less stats then someone else of equal rank.
To be fair though, in order to get executed you really need to be a raging douche-nozzle.
It is not something your average bandit or kidnapper will have to worry about. You really need to be going out of your way greifing people to qualify.

Welp, just booted this up to try it out and found out there's no option to invert the mouse controls. That's unfortunate.
Hah, you are not the first to comment on that.
Also, for anyone wanting to join the guild, you do need to be the next rank up from a nobody, but that doesn't really take long at all.
The videos on the Greenlight page made me want to give this a try, but no mouse invert is a big turn-off. My brain gets all flip-floppy when I try and play with it disabled. I'm going to see if I can figure out a way to enable that via my mouse drivers and give this a shot.
yeah, Axen and I killed some random dude and both accrued 400 infamy points, 12 hours later I had lost the 400 infamy points, so you have to go kill a bunch of people who don't deserve it to hit that 8k infamy.
edit: also just an fyi on the vip stuff, you will only train the skill you have active to the next level, then you have to select the next level just like if you were online, I was kind of hoping it would just keep ticking up as long as I was offline

So offline cultivation isn't worth it until you get to the levels where it takes ages to cultivate a level, I suppose

So how much training do i have to do to get up to the required "level" to be able to join the guild? I've been cultivating for a couple days now and i still can't seem to hit it
Man, this game is just like Eve for me. I auto-navigate to something, alt-tab out for 20 minutes, come back, change my skill, do something, auto-navigate somewhere, alt tab for 30 minutes.

A post on the official forums mentions needing to get out of the protection state (which you probably are), and needing at least an internal skill of 2+ and a life skill (which I assume is crafting?)
I couldn't join the guild until I was level 3 or 4 internal skill, I had taken up mining by then, and I had gone through and did my first storyline quest. At that point I talked to a guild administrator guy who gave me a quest to join a guild, I had to go to my school after that and talk to a few guild administrators, then finally I could join the guild. It definitely was not clear but these were the steps I stumbled through to get it to work.
make sure you aren't under protection by clicking left of your portrait and see if jinghu mode is greyed out, if so you are still under protection
Hmm well I have poisoning and my internal skill is already level 4 and just finished my first quest i think. I guess I will just keep plugging along i guess.
If you have completed your first storyline quest (mine popped up after I finished my first style teaching at my school and it told me I should go back to my hometown to try out teleporting) try talking to a guild administrator, see if he gives you a quest for joining a guild
I had that quest and still wasn't high enough, so I figured it'd work later on and eventually it did. No clue what I did, what level I hit, etc.

I have no idea what the second cultivation thing does. Do I just spend my money to roid out and power level through a skill or something? I can just put it back to whatever the first cultivation thing is right?

You can also straight up murder those gold spammers if you want. Like, no one will stop you.
HOW? How do I do this public service?

Yeah, the middle skill cultivation is just a moneysink. Maybe good later when you swim in money, but early on it's totally pointless. Keep it on the first and join team practices each day until you reach 100 fatigue.
Space Engine videos with appropriate music. Enjoy.

bound money really isn't that hard to come by, and honestly you're not going to be using it for much else later on, so if you have extra cultivation from team practice, just use it.

I just ran into the same thing. No inverted mouse is kind of a dealbreaker for me.
Yeah, sadly, the best you can do when low on cultivation is to just grind up experience from quests of some kind and then do other things for a while as it slowly converts. Luckily once you get to around untapped potential, the game gives you more to do in terms of missions. (10 in your main cultivating skill) For reference, you'll probably want around 75k cultivation for a good full session of TP, maybe closer to 100k if you're above level 10. I just try to only do a 25 round TP daily so I don't get too low and have to scramble for more cultivation.
In terms of things to do while you wait, on my main character I've had the most fun patrolling the school, knocking offending spies off of the cliffs of the Shaolin temple after stunning them. Then I go around to gather some fish and logs, turn the school quest in, rinse and repeat. Exploring is great too because you can find many treasure chests in strange places.
Just applied to join the guild. So far I haven't even make a single tael... what else can you do besides kidnapping or crafting to make the unbounded silver? It is driving me insane with this duel currency business.
I'm going to have to make a kidnapping attempt pretty soon, as I'm nearly out of food. Might make it my objective for tomorrow. How well do the kidnapping jobs pay out, anyways?
How bad is kidnapping if it is against your schools code?
you'll get discipline points for going against your schools code, accumulate enough and you get punished though i'm not quite sure what the punishments are exactly
If you go to your schools repenting area, you can repent and remove 10 discipline points every 10 minutes. So there really isn't much of a problem unless you cant afford to afk your character
Welp, I learned the hard way not to hit the 'leave' button when on a spy mission (hint - it's not the same thing as teleport). All in all I had a pretty fun first day. Still mostly clueless, and managed to die horribly several times with a group trying to do a story quest at Shen's castle, but it was fun. TheKoolEagle even made me a new shiny sword. I think I need to go get vent updated and running on this computer again (we're using the PA vent server?).

This game really brings out the best in people. :P
Grind ore and kill humanoid mobs. Sell your swag to the many stores found in large cities. That way you don't need to get infamy.
Unless kidnapping players get you more than a few Liang.

I have no idea what "Weak Body and Mind" level is (same as, uh, almost anything else in the game), but it didn't autoreject me.
