The first episode was testicular torsion, right?
I feel so alone in not understanding what the hell everyone likes about Venture Bros.
Some dude at work let me borrow the first season, I got halfway through it and it was pretty lame
Stops being a clever Johnny Quest/Comic Books parody and starts being it's own insane world
dr venture is trying to get pills at the start of the second episode then i skimmed through it and made this thread
so I skipped to Trial of the Monarch, which sounded funny
and it was. It really, really was.
counterpoint archer
But Archer is like a textbook example of that
It doesn't really hit its stride until the one with Conway Stern
probably the best "will I like this" episode.
it works without previous context. Honestly? It works best without context.
THIS IS HOW YOU GET ANTS
the seasons thereafter are excellent
Venture Bros. is funny from the first episode, but it quickly and savagely ratchets up the humor levels. The humor type never changes, so if you don't like it now there's a chance you won't like it at all.
Which would be awful, because Venture Bros. is amazing.
I've never understood people saying that about first episodes/seasons
Even if it's not as great as later stuff, there's usually something salvageable there and a good indicator of what a show will become
The next three is them crazy with that world
i tried to find a good post to respond to this with and i couldint
it doesn't
also Venture Brothers is at its worst episode still pretty alright, sorry you're broken
Steam
"Zay!? More like GAY!!!!"
then drop the mic
Steam
the first episode really wasn't that great
oh yeah i forgot about archer for a while, season 3 was real good
Professor impossible, Dr. Orpheus
Twitter Steam
the pilot is really rough because it was made prior to the rest of the show and was basically a proof of concept on a much smaller budget
Steam
the first Dr Orpheus is episode #5, "Eeny, Meeny, Miney, Magic"
that or Tag Sale would be a better episode to get a feel for the show, if the first one-and-a-quarter episodes didn't click
So much so that this moment from season 2, while pretty funny if you haven't watched a moment of the show, is spectacular when you reach it after watching these dudes interact with each other. I love venture brothers

I've watched the first episode of this Simpsons show, but it didn't grab me. It's just a weird cartoon about a nuclear family with some precocious kids.
I know it's popular and people say its really good but I feel like I've given it a fair chance.
