seriously though, that is a strangely coincidental clothing/colour choice
did Ultimate Ben Reilly survive the clone saga? Could he have made another?

so something just occured to me about the big spoiler at the end of MM: TUSM #1
Ultimate Peter and Miles never met, did they? Nor did Miles ever meet any of the clones other than Jessica?
How would this Peter know who Miles is, then? Or where to find his apartment? The only thing I can think of is if he's already talked to Aunt May & Gwen and they believed it was him/trusted him enough to tell him about Miles.
well, or he followed the same clues that led Venom to the Morales'
(edit: though I think some of Venom's trail is unavailable to anyone else what with him killing some of the people along the way)
or he is an evil clone and Aunt May & Gwen are in serious trouble.

Its not necessarily that dire
Whether Evil Clone or the actual return of Peter Parker he implies he's been running around in secret for awhile and figuring out who Miles was or following him home wouldn't exactly be hard.

Aren't we about to have a major crossover event with every version of Spider-Man from every universe, including Miles? This may be Peter Parker, just not the one from the Ultimate universe.
Probably a clone, though. I don't think they're ever going to brink back Ultimate Peter Parker.

Recognized his old webshooters in footage about Miles?
Something that just popped into my head, because I remember it happening a couple years back, and we all guessed and debated, and we all missed one guess, and that's what it ended up being, and it was SO obvious in hindsight

Where's Ultimate Chameleon atm?
That's where my line of thinking went, in part because of the "Spider-Man Twins." Remember, it was "Chameleons" - a brother and sister with the shapeshifting power, and they have copied Peter Parker before (UCSM 11-14). Last we saw them, they were in Shield custody, so yeah...
No way they bring back Peter. Bendis and company have worked really hard to establish Miles as a worthy replacement and his own character, having Peter back would just dilute that.

Ultimate Spider-Man
I completely agree. They can't bring Peter back because then what's the point of having Miles around? Plus, Marvel is actually doing a good job of diversifying its roster with minority and women heroes, so bringing Peter back would take back their new direction like 5 steps.
There's just no point. I'm going with this is a clone. A very good clone, but not the real Peter.

One other, though unlikely, possibility is that last issue's last page
ties in to the giant Spider-verse event that's suppose to contain every version of Spider-Man out there. That way you get both the real Peter Parker, and the reason why he can't stick around.
I don't think this is a coincidence that this happens so soon after the book becomes "Miles Morales: The Ultimate Spider-Man." Now, I doubt this is the real, or at least a long-lasting Peter Parker. But I could totally see that happening, and Peter goes back to being a hero, leaving Miles to determine what he's going to do now that his legacy hero has taken the role, ending with Miles proving himself to be the Ultimate Spider-Man, getting acceptance from the guy who inspires and Peter becoming the Ultimate Scarlet Spider as a show of a respect to his successor.
Though, thinking about it, Peter could just become the Scarlet Spider anyway so he doesn't have to worry about everyone going "Hey, it's Peter Parker!"

Regardless of if this is the real Peter Parker or a clone, I wouldn't have a problem with him being a secondary character in the Miles Morales book. He can show up there and in All New Ultimates every now and then and fight crime and do awesome stuff. I am against him getting an Ultimate Scarlet Spider (or whatever) book because I think that would pull sales away from Miles Morales. I LOVE that Marvel created a bi-racial Spider-Man and I want this book to succeed and I think putting Parker/clone Parker in a separate Ultimate book would cause Miles to lose steam.

He could totally use Jessica's costume too. He'd just need a padded bra to fill in some areas :P

Padded Bra? or just some training from Captain America

He lasted longer than Peter did. Ultimate Peter told MJ that he was Spider-Man in issue 7 or 8. Miles made it through 6 issues after the time jump, 3 issues of his Cataclysm tie in, the 5 issues of the main Cataclysm series, and now 2 issues of the restart. That's twice as long as Peter managed.

I just wish the writers didn't feel compelled to hit every beat of the previous Spider-Man stories. His girlfriend doesn't have to know! Maybe they could explore how much of a strain it puts on their relationship given that 1. he only got his powers recently and 2. they're children!

You mean like 616 Spider-Man did for like 20 years?

You are probably making a great point but I don't know the character's history going back that far so I can't intelligently comment on that.
Having said that:
Maybe it's an issue with me of having already seen Ultimate Peter Parker tell MJ so quickly and how fast that turned in to a shit storm for both of them. It just feels too familiar and done. I view the Ultimate universe as a place where they can do different things with similar characters and with this move it looks like they are doing the same thing with new characters that they did with old characters in the same universe.
Clearly we won't know what's going to happen until next month but I hope Katie's reaction severely deviates from MJ's reaction.

Continuing the thread with how really old 616 Spidey goes in line with current Miles Spidey...
616 Peter's first two love interests (Betty Bryant and Gwen Stacey) did not know Peter was Spider-Man. He kept it a secret from them, and it ended up causing all kinds of issues. Its also why his telling MJ almost right away was a refreshing change of pace. If Miles keeps it a secret, then he's going to have 616 Peter issues. If he tells her, he's going to have Ultimate Peter issues. In either case, there will be issues that a version of Peter Parker can relate to.
Personally, I think Miles should tell her because it adds more drama to the story.
