Pre-PAX Meetup

Hey guys, So like many of you I am arriving on Thursday the 29th and was wondering if we could get a small meet up in a nearby hotel lobby and explore the city/Make buds and so on. I am a firm believer in the more the merrier and would like to get a group together to tackle PAX with.
Let me know your thoughts and any suggestions appreciated :D

Not sure who's doing it this year, but in years past there is a Magical Mystery Tour that explores Seattle the Wed and Thursday before PAX. And someone usually organizes a Pre PAX boardgame night at one of the hotels.

Make sure to keep an eye on the thread at the top of these forums. It's been stickied and made an announcement.

There's a standard night of board gaming the night before PAX in the lounge of the Sheraton. That may be a place to start.

I will be there a few days before and after and definitely will be exploring the city!

First, Congrats on looking to connect with the rest of the community! That's a challenging thing for 'our type'. Ditto (again) on What @Sanovah said, and shoutout to @bloatedhippo for the following.

The Magical Mystery Tour is right up your alley. It's an all-day tour around the city, led by fellow forumers. The thread will be posted soon and when it is, and you'll have a chance to review all the options and vote on the places you want to go. Once the votes are tallied and the itinerary is set, all the information you need is provided about transportation, costs, etc...

The best thing is that it's a jump-on / jump-off tour and you can join and leave wherever you want. There's also a twitter feed that you can use to track the tour's current position if you're looking to join in late.

Happily on Sabbatical. Don't bug me.

There are many things that happen the night before. I too congratulate you on attempting to make friends before the beginning. Yes there are those. But I believe that the biggest thing the night before is the Triwizard Drinking Tournament which has challenges completely and totally based around the making of friends. Don't be afraid to dress up. The forum should start soon. Sign ups will probably go pretty fast

I'm thinking about exploring the possibility (how's that for 3 non-committal keywords in such a short span?) hosting a large tabletop pre-party at the Columbia Tower Club (the top 2 floors of the big black building downtown), but there are a lot of logistics involved that I'm not prepared to inquire about just yet, and there would be some sort of fee to take over their 2 ballrooms (maybe $10 per person). Anyone who participated in 'Tabletop Day Atop the World' up there this year knows what an amazing place it is to game and meet people whilst surrounded by the most amazing views possible.

@quintious you should totally talk to Lexi. She usually runs something similar at the Sheraton and could probably give you tips and hints or if you really didn't want to do something new might be able to use some help

Any word on the mystery tour and other meetup activities? My wife and I went last year and we're coming back this time and really want to meet some new people because we feel we missed out on that last time. Looking forward to trying to jump on the friend bandwagon.

@Shmelio That sounds amazing, I work right beside Hogwarts on a Daily basis (Universal Studios Orlando) and I love the Books/Movies. I'll probably bring a robe and stuff, I can't wait.

@Quintious - I just sent you a PM with a wall of text. Here's the TL;DR - IMO, It's a fantastic idea if you can make it work logistically.
