Yo!

Long-time lurker, short time poster here. Strip Search made me finally decide to join these forums cause hey, it's awesome.

And the reason it's awesome is cause I like art! So might as well post some.


Anyway, to answer the questions from the art rules thread:

Tell us what your goals as an artist are.

To be the one true Pixel King.

Are you a hobbyist looking to learn to draw landscapes for fun?

I'm a hobbyist, though I take my hobbying quite seriously.

Are you putting together a portfolio to get into art school?

Been there, done that, never again.

Are you currently a professional looking to further refine your skills in a certain area?

I do paid pixel work now and again. I'm fine with general C&C though, rather than specific areas.
Depth when it comes to landscapes might be interesting.

How long have you been practicing this form of art?

More than 10 years, I know that much.

Who are some artists or styles that you admire who you strive to be like in your own work?

No clue, I love a lot of SNES games. (Lttp, SD3, Metroid, Tales of Phantasia) but have no idea who did their art.

For the actual pixelart I strictly use Ms Paint, I think it's the XP version I use cause Windows 7 paint is wack.

I've done a few animations through the ages, mostly stuff like this:


Animations take a lot of time, blood and tears tho; so I avoid em unless necessary. (necessary meaning if I get paid for it >_>)

Just as a thought, if you have them animated folks are probably more likely to commission.

I like your color choices, your work draws a lot of depth out of those teeny tiny pixels just by having good highlights, reflections, etc.

also, those birds! Super cute. I like the appearance of motion in the little bluejay, for example (though, holy pants, animated would be even cuter) -- these are really nicely done.

What are you planning to do with all of those birds? I noticed on your dA you've got a few other sets of items as well. is it just like, a self challenge or is it just preset stuff for your comic designs?

Yeah probably, I'm too busy to be doing art commissions anyway tho.

Both of those reasons, really. I mean, ultimately I'm doing them all in an uniform style so they can be used for my comic. But I'm fully aware I probably won't ever use half of those birds anywhere.

I think by forcing myself to think of 100 or so original and/or unique variations of every theme/word I push myself to go beyond simple props that go as far as "bush", "duck", "bird".

I just finished my latest 100x sheet that I've been working on for the last few days:



100x furniture. (not sure if everything fits that title, but whatever. )


For the person that said they'd like to see 100x game characters happen, I'm actually sorta on the way there
cause I've been spriting every single confirmed character for Smash Bros the day they show up:



That's a good 17 characters (including sonic who isn't on the sheet) already. ;p

Dang, these are pretty. Tiny little nitpick - for the furniture set, when you're doing glass reflections (like on the cabinet/case), sometimes the shine looks a little too harsh.

Honestly though these are all great and I'm loving 'em.
