Okay game, it's nice of you to lay off for a while, but these Easy missions are a bit dull. 4 enemies? How am I going to get half of my squads killed with that? Give me something to work with here.

Intermission Base Report
We've just completed our tenth mission, so now's as good a time as any I guess to let people review how our force looks, if anyone's curious. Ability key below in case anybody doesn't know what they are.
Sniper abilities
HS: Headshot - Fire a shot with +30% critical chance and extra damage on critical hits based on the tech level of the sniper rifle. 2 turn cooldown.
SS: Squadsight - Allows firing at targets in any ally's sight radius. The targets still need to be in the line of sight for the sniper, but out of his range of sight.
Gs: Gunslinger - Confers 2 bonus damage with pistols.
Heavy abilities
FR: Fire Rocket - Fire a rocket that does 6 damage. This ability cannot be used after moving, nor more than once per mission.
HT: Holo-targeting - Shooting at or suppressing enemies also confers a +10 Aim to any allies' attacks on those enemies.
BS: Bullet Storm - Firing the primary weapon as the first action no longer ends the turn.
SR: Shredder Rocket - Fire a rocket that causes all enemies hit to take +33% damage from all sources for the next 4 turns. The rocket's blast is weaker than a standard rocket's.
RR: Rapid Reaction - Confers a second reaction shot, if on Overwatch and the first reaction shot is a hit.
Assault abilities
RG: Run & Gun - Allows firing or Overwatch after Dashing on the turn Run & Gun is activated. 2 turn cooldown.
Ag: Aggression - Confers +10% critical chance per enemy in sight (max +30%).
TS: Tactical Sense - Confers +5 Defense per enemy in sight (max +20).
LR: Lightning Reflexes - The first reaction shot taken against this soldier each turn automatically misses.
RF: Rapid Fire - Take two shots against a single target in quick succession. Each shot carries a -15 penalty to Aim.
Support abilities
SG: Smoke Grenade - Deploy a smoke grenade once per mission. The smoke confers +20 defense to all units, not just allies, and lasts during the enemy turn.
Sp: Aprinter - Allows the support to move 3 additional tiles.
May 9th - Start building another satellite. I can't actually launch it as my uplink capacity will be maxed out by the time it's built, but I want it ready to go as soon as I have a new uplink constructed. Satellites take longer to build than the uplinks.
May 12th - My birthday! And Dr. Vahlen has a wonderful present for me.
Oooh yeah, work it Floosy, lookin' sharp. Yay, carapace armour!
May 13th - A large UFO is detected over Japan. Raven-2 is dispatched and, thanks to its new Phoenix Cannon, takes down the alien craft while sustaining only about 40% damage instead of nearly disintegrating. So I guess they were a worthwhile purchase.
I once again beg, con and steal some cash together, and buy three suits of carapace armour, which are issued to Lt. Floosevelt, Cpl. Fuzzbutt and Rk. Fatt. Sgts. Madder and Label have to go without, but as the sniper and heavy of the team should be less susceptible to being shot anyway.
The team are obviously feeling lazy today as they've persuaded the Skyranger pilot to drop them practically inside the UFO. What's the matter guys, getting bored of wandering aimlessly around forests already??

Yeah the Second Wave stuff is pretty interesting. Though I said in the XCOM thread that I'm kind of regretting turning on Absolutely Critical. I like that you get that reward for managing to flank an in-cover enemy, but I didn't realise it also applies to enemies that are totally out of cover. So some of the scariest enemies, like Chrysalids and Cyberdisks, you are always guaranteed a critical if you hit them! That seems a bit too easy to me. I wish I could turn it off now, but oh well.
