err'thing always building towards an end, right?
dis some real four horseman type shit right here
i always kind of conceptualize the end times as mankind's climax; i assume that if there is some omniscient, thoughtful power that he knows a little about continuity and how to construct a narrative. obviously our 200,000 some years here need to end with a cumshot; i mean, look at the cold war and the specter of nuclear winter. a big, hot explosion!
to quote archer:
Are you coming?
No, but I'm breathing fast. Heh heh heh.

You'd better just hope crayfish dream :P
Also I like 'our' research.
It reminds me of when 'we' got my uncles and aunts presents for Christmas, for a family.
That I was always excited to see them open so I could see what it was.
The nuclear war a few hundred years before will be biblical though!
This OP is tolerable, at best.

the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
You know, despite them being in three years.
I might have an anxiety problem.
Let me mix a drink for you.

Take a deep breath and a Zanacks. Xanax too expensive.
omg overly aggressive activist undergrads were my bane in college
the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
wtf is that poured in?
Not really activist, but just dumb, there were some girls outside a 7-11 downtown asking me to "donate for cancer".
And I asked why I would want to give money for cancer.
And, exasperated, one said, "No, we're for the cause of cancer!"
Not better.
Probably pine floor cleaner.
It's good for stripping acrylic paint for some reason.

I think the notion that Oblivion (Which I haven't played, but I play Skyrim, so I'll assume it's very similar) is 'selling out 101' pretty much invalidates what you're saying because that is predicated on the notion that what you find enjoyable is right and what other people find enjoyable is wrong. It's arrogance to a ridiculous degree. The success of The Elder Scrolls isn't Bethesda selling out. It's Bethesda creating something that people enjoy.
When it comes down to it, the kind of experience you're looking for is not really present in games. The social consequences of making decisions in Fallout are just as superficial as in Elder Scrolls. There is still a singular story they are telling, and you go through the game following the linear path the developers have set for you. There is no DM dynamically reacting to your actions or words. There is only the simulation of morality by smoke and mirrors. Because Fallout presented it in a way that allowed you to suspend disbelief while Elder Scrolls does not has nothing to do with the quality of the game, or even their dedication to their genre, but your own expectations.
To accuse someone who does not set out to meet your expectations of 'selling out' means you lack the ability (Or the will) to consider how anyone else plays a role or expects to play a role.

Let me guess: down a hallway, into a room for a little while, then back out, into another room which is also not the "right" room for an indefinable reason, down the stairs, room, also wrong room, upstairs, up more stairs, next room, only there for a little while, back to a hallway, etc.?
Anyone you interact with is only there for a little while and if you turn your back or leave a room they're just gone into thin air?
Am I close?
hahahaha Look, everyone! Elendil only has one dick!
Pollution.

Which I prefer. Because it means that the story of the game can carry a lot more depth because it becomes possible to have significant impact within the game world.
to say nothing of the whore of babylon and the trumpeter
Just not ones with a narrative.
Simcity has the moral consequences that go with making 'evil' choices.
But as soon as a game has a storyline that ends, those consequences go out the window, short of simply ending your character through death or failure.
