the only upside is how bulky it is, it's probably low caliber (I'm actually not sure on this), and you've got one shot. So it's a pretty shitty gun, but it's also made entirely of plastic and once you have the printer replicating the design is incredibly easy. And i'm sure people will just improve the design, which is easy to spread.
so, yeah, pretty scary.

people with ten grand to spend on a 3d printer and the know-how that is required to download the plans and click a button are far more common than people with a thousand to spend on a metal lathe who also have the know-how that is required to build a functioning firearm
and that's if we accept that the one and only piece of specialized equipment you need to build a firearm is a lathe, which I am skeptical of

yeah man those unautomated special training required lathes are just as accessible as a robot that prints out a gun with a downloaded schematic.
