The [steam] thread - Home of the Summer Dale Observer Society
I've got a spare key for the new Humble Bundle Weekly and I'm giving it away! It's without the Walking Dead, but who doesn't want to play BTTF or Sam & Max? If you want to enter my little contest, just send me a PM and I'll randomly select a winner tomorrow evening.
It's too bad that Steamgifts doesn't list the bundle (yet?) so I can't do this the easy way, but hey, it's free games and all you have to do is write a short message!
Quoting this from the old thread and there's only one entry so far, I need more participants! I'll probably pick a winner tonight, so get going!
Oh man, the best minor improvement in Xenonauts has to be that your ship has exit ports on the sides of the ship, so you can get your guys out faster, or not have to move your vehicle first.
Thanks again to @Big Classy who gifted me Far Cry 3 way back when. Just finished it this weekend, it was pretty damn fun. I feel like the story missed some opportunities, but the gameplay was crazy fun. I loved that I could stealthily snipe a base, or sneak through it with a knife, but when someone spotted me there were enemies with flamethrowers and I was getting out the RPG. The stealth rarely felt forced because if I got caught then I'd just start shooting. And both the shooting and the stealth were fun!
Singularity is good fun (especially the time reversal puzzles and the third-person steerable sniper bullets.) Good value at $7.50 on Amazon right now, as others have mentioned.
What I would give for a Raven Software collection on Steam. They always were one of those blue-collar developers that toiled in the shadows of the big boys over at id yet still made great games.
Basically I really want Star Trek Elite Force and Heretic II.
And I thought I owned Hexen, Heretic and Hexen 2 on Steam but it turns out I don't. On to the wishlist they go.
I've always wondered why Heretic, Hexen and Hexen II are on Steam, but not the Hexen II expansion or Heretic II.
A big shout out to the people who were hyping up the new Call of Juarez game in the last Steam thread (or was it the one before? These things move so fast it's hard to keep track). I just started playing it yesterday and it's superb, easily the best £9 I've spent this year.
The game is an absolute delight.
Enough to forgive them for The Cartel?
Not sure about that, but Gunslinger is a real gem for the price they're charging. Once it drops for 50% off it'll be an absolute steal considering how much fun it is
Oh my bundle. I stumbled out of the D3 thread into here as I have steam. I had no idea of the bundles, of the deals. I want Police Quest, Kings Quest, Space Quest, Quest Quest Quest! I had most of them. Funny I was looking for Kings Quest 8 forever, and never found it. To bad I all ready spent my money, but I will def be hanging out here and keeping a few bucks for next deals.
Anyway, I'm I'm Dyas, and you just turned me into a steamhead. Or whatever you call it. :P
On that note, what are these card things? I have Civ 5, but haven't played for a while, oh and Worms. I think it is multi, so if anyone has that and wants to play I would.

About my only complaint is that it was really short for me (3 hours, though I didn't go for collectibles). Then again I haven't gotten through arcade mode yet so that'll probably be another hour or two at least.
It's basically Bastion, the shooter. Just like Bastion it's gameplay isn't anything new, just really really well done shooter fare, it's visuals are pretty neat and the story is just fun as hell. Also it's soundtrack is like a mixture of old school Western movie soundtracks with Rock guitar riffs.

/me heads of to update wishlist for sale alerts.
These are the guys you want to talk to about the Quest games.
They have sales pretty regularly and they're all packed in bundles.
Edit: In fact, Police Quest, Space Quest and King's Quest are all currently on sale there. Just look in the middle for the "On Sale" toggle and click it.
Whew, just finished the Book of Unwritten Tales Demo. That was quite substantive for a demo and my gameplay seems to have been a bit over 2 and a half hours. The save wouldn't happen to transfer over to the full game if I got that, right? I kinda don't want to have to do all that over again.

Yeah, that is why I mentioned it. I could digress on games, but won't. Oh the memories.

No idea if it transfers, but the full game is awesome. You should play it anyway.
And you have a long way to go. It clocks in somewhere between 15 and 20 hours.
Just finished playing through Dust: An Elysian Tail on XBLA. Pretty good game! If you like action platformers with Metroidvania elements, you'll find it to be worth your time. One thing I was a bit disappointed with, though, was your character's move list. I thought you would unlock more combo moves as you progressed through the game, but you pretty much have all your combat attacks after the tutorial chapter. You do unlock some magical spells, though, and you also gain a few abilities that let you revisit certain areas to reach parts of a level you couldn't reach before.
There's also a great little Castlevania II reference.
Anyway, if it goes on sale this summer on Steam, I highly recommend it.
Beat Capsized just a moment ago and I loved every second of it. It was kind of short, even though I searched for all the secrets, but the art style alone made it worth playing. Thanks again @cardboard delusions!

If I recall correctly, the person who did the art is/was a regular on these forums!
As someone who has only played the campaigns of Portal 1 and Portal 2, can anyone tell me whats "out there" that's interesting, wether by the community works or what the state of online play is like? I recently beat The Swapper and it left me craving more so I thought I'd pick it up again.
When I build my first "from scratch PC" next week I'm giving my old machine to my brother so he too can be a PC gamer, and avoid the two upcoming consoles. I've got so much co-op to do with him.
I'm really interested in The Swapper, is it any good? I never heard any buzz around it.
I found it mind blowing. It has the length of Portal 1, is slightly tougher puzzle wise, and amazing clay art and chilling story and atmosphere. Definitely worth the sale price, but it left me craving juuuust a bit more with how good it was. But it was worth it for the art alone.

I know that someone made the flash portal games levels into a full portal map pack.

Just download the highest rated stuff from the Steam workshop.

Nice to hear. I'll add it to my wishlist and nab it during the summer sale

I can personally vouch for portal: Prelude, Portal Pro and blue portal. (Portal 1 mods)
Also, my problem with Singularity, and the reason why I will probably never buy it, has nothing to do with the gameplay and all about the story:
After giving you the illusion of choice through much of the game, including a freakin' time machine, the endgame ruthlessly railroads you into a But Thou Must Downer Ending. (Apologies for trope-speak, but that's where I found out about it.)
Yeah, Atari (or whoever holds the Atari name these days) lost the licenses. As noted, GOG carries both Neverwinters if you don't mind dealing with them.
Also, it seems Steam still hasn't gotten around to fixing the activate a retail edition, but still on your wishlist bug. Got Brutal Legend, X-COM, and Back to the Future from Amazon/Humble Weekly Sale and had to manually delete all three from my wishlist after activating my codes.

Boy, I'm still working on learning endless space. I think I might finally sorta have the military building part figured out if not the actual combat. However I just got stomped by a wonder victory from my ally. We conquered the universe together for me to lose 2 turns after the last foe fell and I didn't even know there was a wonder victory, much less how to get one. Yeesh.

It is not, unfortunately. Makes me happy I managed to snag a copy for myself and gift another out before it went bye bye.
Pretty sure it has to do witth Atari's license expiring or something.
