Batman Lego game?

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and TT Games will bring LEGO Batman: The Videogame to next-generation and current generation platforms and the PC in 2008 with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment serving as the game's North American publisher, including all sales and distribution functions.

In LEGO Batman: The Videogame, TT Games brings the world of DC Comics' Caped Crusader to life in an entirely new way. Players can explore a richly interactive LEGO Gotham City as Batman and Robin, capturing infamous villains - and even take control of the villains themselves.

"Batman spans several generations as one of the most popular DC Super Heroes, and 'LEGO Batman' will appeal to several generations of gamers who grew up idolizing the Dark Knight and playing with LEGO toys," said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Development and Production, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "Working with TT Games, we are confident they will continue their LEGO games' success with this title, and we will expand our publishing endeavors with the introduction of the 'LEGO Batman' franchise."

"We're sure our fans will be excited to know that we have the same fantastic team at Traveller's Tales responsible for 'LEGO Star Wars' and 'LEGO Star Wars II' working on 'LEGO Batman,'" said Tom Stone, Director of TT Games Publishing.

"There's a special magic to the LEGO incarnation of Batman that makes him accessible to a younger generation of his fans," said Paul Levitz, President, DC Comics. "We look forward to the videogame version extending this fantasy."

The LEGO Batman: The Videogame story unfolds with Batman's greatest foes escaping from Arkham Asylum and creating mayhem throughout Gotham City. Tracking criminals, including The Joker and The Penguin, players will utilize Batman's gadgets as well as build and operate fantastic vehicles in one or two player cooperative gameplay.

My wife says I'm a sick person, but I can't help but visualize the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne done with Legos. It just seems so wrong.

    Bane breaking Batman's back should be relatively easy though, just click off the torso from the legs on the Lego doll.

    Most awesome thing ever. Most likely this will be done in a semi-corny, tongue-in-cheek, 60s series-style (or, better yet, TAS-style). Still, Lego and Batman are two of the most awesome things of all time, so this is excellent news.

    I only played the demo of Lego Star Wars 2. Is it really good? I might pick it up this weekend.

    It's kinda funny that this news came out today. This weekend I bought a lego Batmobile.

    EDIT: Yeah, I would highly doubt there'd be voice acting. I guess they'll probably make it very Lego Star Wars like. Probably collecting studs and everything. Fine by me. I loved getting 100 percent in those games.

    This could potentially be fantastic. Especially if there is no voice acting. The way the lego people in the Star Wars games communicated without speaking ended up being pretty funny and effective, and would transfer over to Batman in an awesome way. I can already see a lego Batman staring at the Joker, then narrowing his eyes menacingly.

    Heh, that'd be pretty funny actually.

    But yeah, there are a ton of licences that could be given the Lego treatment. Turtles Lego could make for some AWESOME coop though.

    I think it would be cool to see megaman rip off the arms of the bad guys, then replace his own arms with them to switch weapons. No more of this "Oh I'm wearing pink now, so I've got weapon y equipped", now it's "Well, I've got a grenade launcher as one arm and a giant spear as my other arm, let's go!"

    ... Speaking of Batman, I just got finished reading TDKR. It was epic, to say the least. The only two things I didn't like about it were the Mutant gang members and the anti-Batman civilians. The mutants are, by far, the most retarded villains to ever grace a batman comic, and I've honestly made better sense of the comments on YouTube then of the dialogue of the gang members. The anti-Batman civilians reasons for being anti made my brain hurt... alot..


    Anyway, I'd more than likely play this game if it had Nightwing.

    The anti-bat morons are part of why its such a great book, like social commentary and stuff dude </stoner impersonation> :rotate:

    But yeah, the mutants are a bit meh. I didn't like the sequel to the Dark Knight Returns very much though.
