[PATV] Sunday, June 2, 2013 - CheckPoint Season 2, Ep. 51: Cube Vindication
The difference between the Wii U and the PS4, if I understand correctly, is that the content streams to the Vita via a wireless router (assuming you have one), whereas the Wii U is direct to the gamepad. A small, but potentially important detail.
I think Nintendo seriously dropped the ball by not integrating the 3DS with the Wii U. Seriously, that would have been pretty cool.
@Fulchrum: How well did it work? I'm guessing not very.
Didn't Nintendo start things with the Game Boy Advance connecting to the Gamecube via cable? I know there weren't many games that used the idea, but it was used by a few games, including the VS Pac Man game bundled with certain games.
@Fulchrum "So I'm guessing the fact that Sony had the idea a full generation before Nintendo, allowing you to stream Ps3 games to your PsP, means nothing?"
I only like Checkpoint and Feed Dump. I watch Unskippable on occasion, and I -HATE- Loading Ready Run. Don't get me started on Strip Search. OMG, stop making a Reality Game show out of everything. I'm so sick of the formula.
I don't think it's really fair to call Sony's approach better than Nintendo's. The Vita is more expensive, and think about it. With the Wii U, not only can you rely on any person who bought the system having a Gamepad, it's also a win/win situation for developers, because even if you don't add in Gamepad support, being able to play the game while others watch television is a pretty cool feature.

I think what they'referring to is the "TV off" mode that the Wii U has. Not every game has it, but Sony is forcing all PS4 games to have it. On the flip side, Nintendo is requiring all Wii U games to have some kind of the gamepad support, but not necessarily game streaming.
But yes, when it's all said and done, owning a PS4 and a Vita is likely going to cost at least $700- twice that of the Wii U Deluxe.
@Mic128: Wow, the Gameboy Advance had the ability to play full size GameCube games? How did they manage that?
Oh, they didn't? What you're talking about is just connectivity and isn't relevant to this discussion at all? May I ask why you're talking about it then?
The opener killed me. Great stage-punch, totally unexpected, I snarfed even though I wasn't even drinking anything! Kathleen gleefully (maniacally?) beating on poor unsuspecting Graham is also generally satisfying. Almost soothing, somehow.
But if CheckPoint's pimping LRR: a little more CommodoreHustle would sweeten the deal. Give us some sugar, baby! It's been, like foreeeeeveeeerrr!
@enderandrew Agree! I also hate "reality" shows, but Strip Search has been awesome. It seems honest, they're not playing to the camera. In fact they're shy about being filmed at first, but open up after a while, like they're just video-journaling when they're actually being interviewed, or just playing a crazy game the rest of the time.
Quite often though, you can see where they subtlety feel like the camera is a bit of a creeper.
Bionic Trousers has done an outstanding job of making all make sense and look/sound great, but I think they'd agree they owe everything to their subjects.
That's what makes these guys real to me, and what makes "reality" shows fake. On most "reality" shows, the subjects become actors as soon as shooting starts, even if they weren't before. But though the SS guys will play to the camera (as most people will), they never shake off their identity in order to assume their "role" as "themselves."
I identify with these dorks. I envy their opportunities to make friends and be challenged, live vicariously through them confronting those challenges, and am genuinely heartbroken each time one must choose whom amongst their friends will have to compete against elimination.

Epic lols @ the domestic abuse.
Sony had the idea first, and they now have it best. There's no way you can approach this logically as being Nintendos idea.
Checking it feverishly. Every week.
The Godus "godhood" is apparently quite limited, demonstrating Molyneux's talent for overhype: he can turn even Godhood into a disappointment

No problem with agreeing with "first", but how about we wait and see how it's implemented before we say "best".
I just want to know whether or not Katie Stark provided the BOOM! for said tape.
Ah, Seven references.
They were working on it before the Gamecube?
Instead manufactured drama, Strip Search centered on real people assembled because they are artists, not because they're train wrecks.

Can't wait for season 2.
