New HDD - will re-set up my PC - suggestions?
So, right now I have Windows 7 installed on a 3TB mechanical drive (which I am only getting 2TB of space from due to my negligence when installing Windows 7).
I have purchased a 480GB SSD and a new 4TB HDD. My idea is to disconnect my 3TB drive, connect the SSD and 4TB, and install Windows. Later, I will connect the 3TB and dump data to the 4TB allowing me to reformat that drive properly and claim the full 3TB.
I have a few questions:
1) I would like to get into more PC/mobile development. Should I dual boot Windows 7 and Windows 8?
2) I primarily use my PC for gaming and media viewing, so if I do set up multiboot, I will likely use Windows 7 much more than Windows 8. How much space should I set aside for Windows 8? And should I do this partitioning during the Windows 7 setup?
Any other suggestions, even random ones, appreciated.

I don't do windows development, so take this with a grain of salt, but again I don't think there is enough of a difference between 7 and 8 to impact your work there.
Other people have wildly different opinions on "fuck metro." Or are kosher with installing shit to make it look like classic windows. So pick one or the other based on your opinion of the metro interface.
edit: Aside from some screenshots, which don't give much insight to user experience.
Windows 8 runs pretty much everything fine
I currently run W7 on my SSD-bound desktop, and W8 on my laptop
After a really really ugly relationship with Windows 8 in the pre-release days, I've come around to it on my laptop and am considering using it on my desktop again.
As for development, Windows 8 can run everything you need unless you plan on building stuff with like... Visual Studio 2007 or something

Continued support?
speed and stability
thats pretty much it
there are some miscellaneous system features that are nice but not critical
such as the file transfer status dialog is much better, and the ctrl alt delete panel is greatly improved and more responsive
i think but I'm not sure that it talks to game consoles a little easier, but I can't confirm that
i just noticed that my W8 laptop was rigged to my PS3 with absolutely no configuration at all

I would go 7 solo for now and wait for 8.1 to ship, then possibly add that later. I just went fresh install on an SSD myself and stuck with 7 until 8.1 comes along. I run 8 at work, and it hasn't dug up my dead relatives and defiled them, but it can be mildly annoying at times.
