Bookmark icon disappearing -can't un-bookmark

Yeah, pretty much what it says on the tin.
I browse the forums from my IPad and sometimes accidentally bookmark threads due to touch screen, with the old flags it was easy to reverse.
Now if I touch on a star next to a thread, it disappears completely, and if I try to touch the same spot, it thinks I clicked in a user profile and sends me there.
I can't find a way to remove bookmarks now.
