The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Did not see the old thread so here is this new one. There are new episodes of this show airing on Comedy Central on Wednesdays at 10/9 central. Both of the episodes in the premiere were pretty much great; me and my friends were in stitches during basically all of the racing episode. Anyone notice Bender's pixel graffiti on a bridge there?
And you know who I really hate? That monkey we haven't seen in a few years.

I thought the two episodes were great as well. Really felt like old episodes (except the sorta "non conclusions") It's so sad that it's already been re-cancelled. I think all the interviews with the showrunners was essentially "Honestly surprised we got more than 1 additional season."
Good to see still that none of the writing staff is talking to each other and they can't decide if leela and fry are dating, no so secretly dating, or not dating. It's such a weird Schrodinger situation.
Why did that storyline require that they be dating in secret? If they were openly dating but seeing coworkers everywhere, that still creates a situation where they want to get away for privacy.

I thought the secrecy was so that they could use the work premises for their own private use.
Also, to being canceled. Though at this point I look at any new Futurama as something to be appreciated but not expected. At least at this point I think they've gotten to stretch their legs enough with the show that I don't think they've left too terribly much on the table.

Weaker episode this time. I view gross-out jokes as more of a crutch than something funny. It had its moments though.

I thought it was better than the two premiere episodes. Even if movie parodies in cartoons are a little uncreative :P (granted, "Dimensional Drift" was a movie parody too :P)
I thought it was a really skillful parody due to the role reversal, and I've enjoyed nearly all of the episodes this season and since the return.
I'm usually a pretty critical guy, so I don't know why I feel this way even as others speak to some kind of decline in quality. Maybe I just love the show past the point of reason.

I was about to bump the old Futurama thread. I'm glad I found this one.
I liked the last episode, especially Bender going to great lengths to hide Fry's absence. He got a lot of mileage out of that answering machine tape. "This is Fry. I'm-drunk-right-now-so-just-leave."

This one was pretty good.
Another thing - I was re-watching last week's and it just occurred to me. Jrrr was the Poppler! It's been 13 years (original episode aired in 2000) so he's 13 now That's crazy. Hell of a reference!

Is it the same name? I haven't seen the Popplers episode in quite a while.
Still, I do appreciate that time has actually transpired in the show after so many seasons (and absences).

Pretty good two episodes, were at least leveling off. Have we gotten two LRRRR episodes this season? Kind of strange. I guess it was really about his kid though.

I love all of the little jokes they manage to put in the episodes.

Oh man, that was the best one. I about died when Nixon started editing G.I.Zapp. "I landed the plane safely next to this naturally occurring fireball!"

That part had me laughing aloud, too. My other favorite gags were the door-filled hallway subversion and the "We're back" message in the middle of the Purpleberry show.
I would have liked a "we'll keep track of who's real by each cutting off a finger" scene. They could have had the shapeshifter copy the missing finger and then have everyone keep chopping off more and more body parts.

The only good thing is that we might get "post canceled commentary" on the dvd, and that is the best commentary.

There is a lot of call backs to earlier episodes in this final seasons.

Also "Waterboard" "Bob for those apples!"
Edit: Just re-watched it. Man that was good. Love the Larry Byrd voicemail bit. Also "A.C.R.O.N.Y.M." - "Ha that's clever, I'm leaving that in"
"Fire the Surface-to-Air WARNING SHOT!"
"We'll send them straight to CHURCH!"
That was great. So fucking true

I dont know if a relationship with leela could progress any further when you find out she ate your kidney but it was damn funny.
There was a Wreck-It Ralph arcade box on that truck that passed in front of Planet Express!

To be fair, I probably would have done the exact same thing. its probably the smartest thing ive seen fry do in this series.
Considering that he's actually been to the end of time. Twice.
