I want to get one of these for my bass so I can play around with Rocksmith. Does anyone have any experience with them and recommend avoiding any particular brand? I'm nowhere close to being an audiophile but I just want to make sure whatever one I get isn't going to make me regret the purchase.

    any reason not to just get the rocksmith branded cable? i picked the game up for ps3 cheap and found that the cable also enabled me to record directly on my pc through audacity etc. it's hardly production-quality equipment, but if rocksmith's your goal it'll do it that at the very least - it's designed to.

    You have to use the Rocksmith cable if you want to play the game.

    Huh. I somehow missed the big orange box on the Steam page that says I need to buy that cable.
