But I'm guessing that bending in general has become more widespread with the re-merging of the worlds. Hence the return of air bending, seeing people with bending who previously couldn't, and seeing people with more than one type of bending.

Also, it's only magma when it's under the earth's crust. Once it is above ground, it's lava. Duh.

I forget who it is that suggested the waterbending tentacle lady doesn't have actual arms, but I'm pretty sure they were correct.
