So this video game is coming out in 2 months.
I'm very excited. Super excited. I loved GTA IV and San Andreas was so massive and filled with ridiculous fun and this seems like a glorious combination of the two.

Here's a brand new video that shows game play and the mechanics of how three playable characters works.

how awesome is that?? I was assuming you would just switch between the three characters in various chapters or missions, but the fact that you can instantly change during free roam and suddenly find yourself in another area is super cool.

    I think I'm going to spend a decent chunk of time stranding Trevor on foot in the middle of goddamn nowhere and then switching to one of the other two less completely detestable seeming characters.

    I think Trevor looks hilarious and I'm gonna love playing him

    Interesting how people are not wanting to play a character who's basically the spirit of unbridled mayhem that people like about GTA games without the moral hangups that cause cognitive dissonance.

    Some of these things look amazing, but I think they're getting a little too granular with hunting, tennis, and biking minigames.

    With that said, I'll probably get this for PC. Shit looks good beautiful and I'm about to put some money into f'real upgrades.

    Oh, I have no idea. I just assumed. I'm not big on joysticks so I don't like buying things for the PS3.

    i like that the one character is essentially supposed to be a GTA protagonist who won his game

    I feel like there's something wrong with me as I still have absolutely no desire to play this game. Maybe I have a new form of incredibly specific brain cancer? That seems like the most logical explanation, at least from the perspective of someone with a new form of incredibly specific brain cancer.

    The fact that the gameplay video there is seen running on a PS3 means I will be getting the PS3 version

    I am super-excited about this

    Like, I was excited before

    If they can deliver on all this though, it looks like they might be sitting on a real GOTY contender

    One story mission features a character playing a round of golf. After the mission is over, you can go play golf any time you like. Play a full round and you get a cheevo.

    GTA has been doing the mayhem thing since way before Saint's Row. You just beat people with baseball bats to get achievements or beat challenges instead of giant purple dildos or streaking.

    no, i don't feel it either.

    i mean, it looks pretty, the gameplay seems amazing in terms of the sheer amount of it all. i think that's the problem though. it's too damn unfocused. instead of focusing on a core set of solid game mechanics, they're throwing everything including the kitchen sink in. it's too much.

    i'm saying though that being presented with "you're doing crazy things because you're crazy and the rest of the world thinks so" is less appealing than "you're crazy and doing crazy things and it's just another beautiful day in the neighborhood"

    obviously gta was doing it first, since saints row started as a gta ripoff, but i think saints row is much better at it, particularly sr2

    sr2 is basically my favorite gta game
