Confirmed panels for PAX Prime 2013 (Schedule is live!)

Hey everyone,

For the last few years at PAX East, we had a confirmed panels thread to discuss panels before the show. I couldn't find one for Prime 2013 yet, so I am starting a new thread for it. This is my first PAX Prime (though I've done East 4 times) and, awesomely, it's my first panel as well! I'll be presenting this talk:

"The Worst of the Worst: Hacking, Exploitation, and Abuse within Online Games

Online games provide us with endless entertainment and are an amazing way to meet and connect with people across the world. However, like all media, there is a dark underworld beneath online games: the hacking of game clients or servers, malware attacks, the exploitation of game mechanics, and the abuse of fellow players. For an hour, Alex will tell the stories that don't get told about online games, from abuse by employees to game mechanic scripting, personal threats to payment disputes. We will also delve into what both players and developers can do to discourage the abuse of their favorite online games."

That's me. It should be an interesting talk, and one that I have wanted to give for some time. I may be pulling in some other panelists to offer their experiences and stories. Time is 10:00pm on Sunday in the Raven theatre.

Has anyone else started receiving confirmations or know of any other panels that have been accepted?

From what I can tell via communication I have with Gearbox, they'll be doing another big panel as well, but no confirmation there.

I'm gonna have to watch this thread in the coming weeks. One thing I don't think I saw enough of at Prime last year was panels, so since I'm going all 4 days I wanna spend more time checking out panels.

He also said at the Strip Search finale that it would be in the Main Theatre. Let's hope he wasn't fibbing!

That's awesome. I didn't discover Strip Search until after PAX East, so I never went to see the panel. I'm really happy they're bringing it to Prime for a reunion!

Wild Star will have a panel at PAX Prime on Saturday, Aug 31 from 12p-1p. I'm excited. This is one of the games I've been watching for a couple years now. Source

The Co-Optional Podcast (formerly The Game Station Podcast) mentioned having a panel on one of their shows recently. Sounds like they are getting one of the night slots in order to have a regular length show. Hosts are Jesse Cox, Dodger, Totalbiscuit, and possibly one other guest.

I definitely remember there being an Uncharted 3 panel at... PAX East 2011 I think? They gave away shirts and I was pissed because I forgot to go to it. I assume they've done other panels since then.

Bruce Straley was on last weeks episode of The Indoor Kids and I believe he confirmed a panel with Neil Druckmann about TLoU.

    Another panel confirmed:

    Keiji Inafune:
-llustrator and Co-Designer of Mega Man.
-Former head of Research & Development at Capcom
-Former Online Business and Global Head of Production at Capcom
-Producer of Onimusha and Dead Rising series

"Celebrated as the 'father of Mega Man,' but branded as an outspoken critic of the Japanese game industry, ex-Capcom honcho Keiji Inafune’s frank talk, controversial opinions, and – most of all – his games have made many fans (and maybe a few enemies) on both sides of the Pacific. Join us for an informal chat through Inafune’s 25 year career: where console gaming began, how it’s changed over the years, and what’s coming next – both for the industry and for Inafune himself."

Saturday, August 31st from 4:30pm to 5:30pm in the Kraken Theater.

For those unable to attend, this panel will be livestreamed (I'm assuming via Twitch).

Thank you! Seriously loved that game & all Uncharted games, I doubt they will cough up any info in regards to their 1st PS4 game but it would be awesome to hear them talk about the game and what they may have in store for it going forward (bummed to hear that Tlou is a 1 of though :( )

Damn this seems interesting, but I was hoping it was a Capcom one as I am curious if they would ever bring back the Onimusha series, either way curious about this and is something that I would consider going too. Damn so many panels already lol!

Don't rule out Capcom hosting their own panel. They had a huge panel and presence on the exhibit hall floor at PAX East, so I wouldn't be surprised if they had a followup at Prime. Especially since they announced a Strider Hiryu reboot at SDCC, so hopefully they find a way to announce more information.

Still, it's definitely worth checking out, Keiji Inafune has plenty of stories to tell, and he will probably speak about the Onimusha series.

As someone who's been getting more into retro gaming these last couple of years I'm certainly interested in anything related to old school Mega Man. And with Capcom celebrating the 25th anniversary of the franchise I'd expect plenty of content from them and Keiji Inafune. I only hope I can be there for it all. Too much PAX, too little time!

I think it is smart if you are looking to let as many people as possible enjoy that type of entertainment. With it scheduled like that, both theatres will be filled at once, as opposed to only one of them being filled twice, with the possibility of the same people enjoying it twice.
