Sketchbook Etiquette at Comic-Con?

Continental_OpContinental_Op Registered User regular
So I lucked in to getting to go to Comic-Con this year, and since there aren't really any comics I need and with downtown between panels, I thought I might try and get some sketches by some of my favorite artists this year. But what's the etiquette for asking for a sketch?

My last time at Wondercon I remember Mike Mingola doing really fast Hellboys for people who bought his prints, but I'd also heard people asking for other things depending on the artist and time, so I'm not sure what to do. Other than say please and thank you about a million times.

Thanks for the help.

Mostly just be prepared to pay for sketches. A lot of the industry pros have stopped doing the freebies for anyone other than small children because A) they're too busy and B) people get free sketches and then sell them on ebay.

Aside from that you've got it down, be polite, and they'll usually also be polite as well, even if they decline.
