Anonymous, a [mini-Phalla]Basics
This is a mini-Phalla for up to 30 players. It is entirely vanilla. Just kidding.
If you have no idea what a phalla is, click
here for an explanation, then
!sign up by posting in bold limegreen or some other bright color to declare you intentions.
This game strongly rewards activity and coordination. That said, the rules are not particularly complicated, and as such, I believe it is Newbie-Friendly
TM.
All the standard rules apply here. The most important are:
- No communication (about this game) between living players and dead players.
- No using screenshots or other methods to verify information as being given by the host. No copy/pasting messages from the host.
- No speaking in code or languages unknown to all participants (mods get in a huff about this).
- Do not add people (other than the host) to existing conversations. Proboards are a kind of exception to this rule, so recognize that if you accept an invitation to a proboard, your posts can be shown to future entrants.
- Invite the host to any proboards created for the purposes of this game.
- Do not, under penalty of death, edit a vote post. If you have a bbcode fail, suck it up and leave it.
- Include the host (me) on all PMs.
The Hook (i.e. important information relating to this specific game).
All players have access to a hacking ability. Game pace is entirely dictated by activity and engagement. As a result, the game could take up to 9 days if there is little activity, or as little as 1 or 2 days if Langly is playing.
“Vanillager” role PM:
You are a: Hacktivist
You are a member of Anonymous, and are loyal to the current leadership. Recent attacks against your communication servers indicate that there is a hostile faction with access to confidential servers.
Your IP Address is:
255.18.76.1
Your access code is:
D(vnE^
Under no circumstances should you give anyone your access code. This is your only means of identification and access to Anonymous servers. Anyone with access to this code can edit your account settings, including completely removing your account.
Every day you may take one of the following actions:
Delete Account: PM me with an account’s username (forum name) and access code. If your login information is valid, you will gain full access to the user’s account, at which point you may delete their account, forever banning them from the server. If you like to troll, you can also leave a message from this user to the rest of the player base (will be put in narration).
Edit access code: You may change one character of your access code. PM me the number of the character you wish to change (1 to 6) and what you would like to change it to. It may be any letter, number, or special character visible on a standard U.S. keyboard. Access codes are case sensitive.
Decrypt Access Code: You can discover one character of a user’s access code. PM me a player’s username (forum name) and the position of the character you wish to discover (1 to 6).
Trace IP: PM me an IP address. If the address you send is valid (i.e. in the game), you will receive a list of all IP addresses with which the traced IP has had contact during the game day.
When you first learned of the attacks, you began decrypting some users’ access codes. Your efforts have provided the following information:
Forum name: (Character) [character position]
Forum name: (Character) [character position]
Forum name: (Character) [character position]
Victory Condition: Eliminate all threats to Anonymous
A rule for this game:
Any proboard creators must submit an IP range with no fewer than 100 addresses in the range. I will then assign an IP address to the proboard.
Voting, Actions, and Other Miscellanea:
The deadline for votes and orders will be
10 PM Eastern (2AM GMT, 7PM Pacific). Note this well because inactives will be strictly culled (2 failures to vote/submit orders will result in your replacement or death). Each day, you
must vote for a player in
bold red,
and submit an action. The person with the most red votes has their access to the intranet revoked. In the case of a tie, the person who had more votes before the tie occurred is considered the “winner” of the vote.
Even if we have extremely quick signups, the game will not start until Monday 7/22, with the first close on Tuesday, 10PM EDT.
The order of actions is:
Vote -> Malicious Account Edits -> Valid Account Edits -> Information retrieval Clarifications may be asked in thread by posting in
bold darkorange (or the inferior
bold orange). To avoid unwanted interference, I will not respond to questions without this markup. You may also ask clarifications by responding to your role PM.

Trace IP: PM me an IP address. If the address you send is valid (i.e. in the game), you will receive a list of all IP addresses with which the traced IP has had contact during the game day.
This ability still works even if the player with the traced IP address is removed from the game that day, correct?
Information is after kills so this might be interpreted a couple ways.
The ability still works. You get the information after they die, but as long as the contact occurs before their removal, you can detect it. After a player is removed, it is impossible that they had contact with another IP.
What is the definition of "had contact with"?

Look, it's got letters and a number and it's 9 characters long! What more could you want?
Do ranges use longest prefix matching?
First question I ask him is if his password was 'password'.
"...Yeah."
"Alright. Just so you know, that's a really common password and I'd recommend you make a new one."
We sort out the account (nothing was really borked; the 'hacker' just edited some profile information to troll him), and afterwards I check that he has in fact changed his password. Just for the sake of curiosity, I type in 'password1'. Boom, access to his account.
I just shook my head and went on with my day.
