Going to Seattle!

Like the thread title says, the girlfriend and I are heading to Seattle tomorrow for a little impromptu get away and we could use a few suggestions from PA'ers. She's really into arts and crafts and desserts so any nice places for those types of things would be cool, other than that, we're up for anything.

Thanks.

If you guys are into dancing at all, Seattle has an awesome Lindy Hop scene! http://www.centuryballroom.com/home/ They do beginner lessons on most of their dance nights.

Food wise, I really loved http://www.feierabendseattle.com/ while I was there. Very good German food.

Well you're probably already here and no longer checking this thread, but just in case here are a few thoughts off the top of my head.

You'll probably want to visit the waterfront. I would suggest starting at sculpture park, then walking down the waterfront and hitting up pike place market when you get to that area. Lots of weird shops, restaurants, giant ferris wheel, aquarium (if you want to pay), and then the market has even more shops/food plus a lot of street vendors and things (like the original Starbucks). I recommend getting the mac and cheese at beechers and maybe some mini doughnuts from the stand next to the fish shop.

There's also lots of museum type places to go, with the EMP/scifi history museum being pretty popular (although not really arts and crafts related). If you do end up going to the EMP/scifi museum I highly recommend just walking around the pacific center area as there's some cool stuff (like the worlds fair fountain which you can walk in).

I always like going to the top of giant buildings in cities. In seattle the tallest one you can do is the Columbia tower, but the smith tower and space needle also have good views. All of them cost some amount of money though.

As touristy and lame as it sounds the ride the duck tours are actually kind of fun. It's your basic ride along city tour, but it's an amphibious vehicle and you get to ride in the water for a bit.

I haven't seen people being so shamefully paraded in the streets since the Cultural Revolution. That being said, it looks fun if you can swallow your pride.
