Sand is Trigun

Topster88Topster88 Registered User regular
A colonization vessel carrying a population of humans has to crash-land onto a planet of sand, and the humans all adopt a culture suspiciously similar to the wild west's. One mysterious badass is hounded by the law for crimes he never committed and is connected somehow to the vessel that crash-landed generations ago.

Come on.

I thought this as well. there are definite similarities in the gross plot, and I don't really know anything else that also shares it.

which, I suppose makes it pretty fertile ground for exploration of a narrative theme, as most things involving Western ish setting have been pretty thoroughly explored in countless retellings.

hell, I don't think the Simpsons have even done it, which surely makes it more original than most stories.

to what extent should we demand our stories be unique? would we ever watch a new Hollywood blockbuster? how many truely novel novels can one read? does this, should this, impinge on our ability to enjoy media?

ITT: redx seeks to create a new narrative for the thread "closed ended criticism of the comic in D&D" dare we hope for an unexpected outcome?

    I've never heard of Trigun.

    Sand is original to me.
