Sometimes I wish there was some kind of indicator of what game a comic references, because more often than not I am completely clueless until the newspost appears. This is one of those cases.
This is probably due to my narrow and exclusive taste in games, which is basically an allergy to anything (grim)dark where you interact with your environment mainly by killing guys with guns. Still, though. Would be rad for me at least!

The newspost will nearly always let you know. You've just got wait a few hours for it to go up.

Do you have Steam? You can find out a lot of general game info just by checking the store on a regular basis. I've never seen or played a Payday game, but just browsing the store gave me enough awareness to know what today's comic was about.
PAYDAY 2 is a Left 4 Dead style game that instead of fighting zombies, you're doing crimes. Apparantly (from context in this comic) you can customize the mask you wear while you're playing.
If you're unaware of Dora the Explorer... you are better off. Its one of the punishments kids inflict upon their parents.
"No, you can't pick your own faces. Tried it once, doesn't work. You got four guys all fighting over who's gonna be Batman, but they don't know each other, so nobody wants to back down. No way. I pick. You're Dora the Explorer. Be thankful you're not Spongebob."

We managed to keep our 3-year-old completely Dora free, until a well-meaning parent at her daycare gave her a DVD at the Christmas gift exchange. Dammit. That sill remains her ONLY Dora, however.

Are the other two guys AI, or are they supposed to be real people?
I honestly don't know if Tycho would encourage his PA lackies to call him 'boss' or not.
They don't really look like anyone from the office as seen in PATV. White guy could be Porkfry who's appeared a few times, but they're probably just random dudes. ;D

The hair of the American flag mask robber and the Dora robber is clearly the hair of Tycho and Gabe, respectively.
I always liked the spanish main character and simple spanish teachin' myself ....
But yeah, her staring at the screen waiting for answers can get a lil creepy from time to time ^^;.
Yeah, I hate kids shows that fake having some kind of interactivity. It's like the reverse of MGS. If you want to make an educational video game then don't make a TV show make a damn game.
My brother's cat is named Dora.
I can neither confirm nor deny that these facts are related.
(Please do not gift. My game bank is already full.)

"Look, ain't nobody sayin' they don't appreciate what Jenny did."

I thought it was Saints Row or something until I saw a Payday 2 picture on Joystiq afterwards :P

Nothing is worse than Caillou. I look back on the dark days of Aiden's Barney obsession with nostalgic joy.

They're either AI or real people, but they won't call him boss. In Payday 2 the actuall boss is the guy who is guiding you through voice, named Bain. And judging by their appearence, they are in-game characters: the left one is Hoxton(white) and the right one is Chains(black). And this game is actully great for everyone who likes co-op games. Oh, and I think that Tim Buckley from Ctrl+Alt+Delete did a better Payday 2 comic.

I went and looked up Ctrl + Alt + Del's comic:
Like usual he covers up the punchline in acres of dialog he doesn't need, something Penny Arcade mostly avoids (in the past few months they've actually done the Ctrl + Alt + Del thing a few times but I digress). Here, I fixed the comic:
Yeah, that's much better with less lines. I think Buckley has some good ideas sometimes, but he has this condition where he's afraid of letting his jokes run wild and free, so he has to beat them to death before they escape his mind.

Wait, that was supposed to be better than the Penny Arcade comic? Have I secretly fallen into the Bizzaro World?
Its better from my POV since it covers the gameplay aspects of the game, and I like this game very much. Also, I don't like how they changed Dallas with Tycho and Wolf with Gabriel (no offence, I know its how it should and its a weird point from my side).

But... there are no jokes there. It lacks the funnies.

I like the PA comic better but I think the core idea of Buckley's joke has merit. I think a point somewhere in between the somewhat verbose original and your minimalist rendition would be the sweet spot.

Well, it mostly because you don't know anything about this game. The thing there is that civs won't alert the cops even if walk in the jewerly store in full body armor with a bag of trip mines. The guards will easily blow your cover but the civs aren't.

So it makes more sense now, but it still lacks jokes. You could make a joke out of that, but I don't think he actually did...
Edit: This might contradict the actual game, but same comic, with the mask on the entire time, and minus the dialog in the third panel (maybe still with his, or with different dialog for him). That would have at least been better :P
Edit 2: Or, no dialog in first two panels, then third panel is her first panel dialog.

It will contradict with the game. If you walk to the bank with your mask on, you will get instantly spotted.

Now that we've gotten that awful business out of the way, its story time!
The original voice of Dora the Explorer lives in my town and went to my high school (I graduated the year before her freshman year, I believe). They had local news crews document a typical day through school with her once and stuff. She stopped doing the voice to go to college, I think. I even knew a few folks who were friends with her, but never met her personally.

The joke is that the bank employee is oblivious to the fact that heavily armed man is there to rob her.
You will note that the setup and punch-line are all contained in the first panel. The other panels are just there to ask if you "Get it??"
