- (IF not- I will ask: determination and the R2 that increases agility: are those persistent or thrown away after 1 use? Does determination mean that the critical hits do no damage?)
- Please excuse the lack of google-fu on this, but there's SO much star wars/x-wing results I gave up on that.

DarkPrimus got your other question, but on Determination: It means that Pilot critical hits do no damage, and you toss the card.
Here's the latest errata from Fantasy Flight, but surely there are plenty of people willing to talk rules in here.

R2-F2 is the droid that adds to your agility. The action to activate him lasts until the end of the round. You can use him again during the next round if you decide to use it as your action. The droid will stay there unless you take some sort of critical hit that would wipe him out.
Determination also doesn't go away, unless it's somehow taken out by a critical hit. (Remember that most ships will probably only get to use it 3 or so times before the ship is destroyed). Also, it only works on damage cards with the Pilot trait.
Enjoy the game! I just got back from a night of X-Wing and Star Wars LCG. Bliss!

I have a bunch of them but I use them for my 40k stuff since they fit the figures and some of the larger ones like dreadnaughts but not rhinos or predators
From the picture, I doubt it.

Yeah - it looks like the dividers aren't adjustable, which means that the Falcon would have to stand on its edge, and the case is only 3" deep, so the Falcon won't fit that way, either.

you can cut the dividers if you have the time and skill
I've got one downstairs; I can do some LWH measurements for you when I get a break.

You apprently, did the same as I did (forums.penny-arcade.com/discussion/comment/28329075/#Comment_28329075).
You won't regret it. It's nice and so far, I have not run out of space. If I need more, I could possibly trim the shell that comes with each ships to win some more space. So far, that husky toolbox has been the best.

With my toolbox, I should have no problem putting the tentative and rebel transport in. I *may* have to start trimming the shell the ship came into but that's all.

Had a blast playing, but it took 5 hours (my friend and I are still looking up a lot of rules) My friend let me target lock on Dark Curse, attempt to re-roll my attack dice only to say, "nope- no re-rolling on Curse." Poor Wedge.
Ion Cannon is powerful in that it lets you know exactly where your opponent is going to be. Even if you discount the ability to drive them into an asteroid or off the map, it means you have one less ship to worry about, or one guaranteed target to attack.
Using it against Vader or something can really wreck an Imperial squad, because you're basically eliminating their most important unit with your least important one.
Thanks for the sympathy, it really left me in bad mood.
There were 17 players there and through bad timing I got to play him as my one and only game that night. The only reason I didn't make a big deal about it is that the dice would have had to go my way consistently in order to beat that list. And that was just not happening.
On a related note, a snow day tomorrow might lead to playing the basic rules with my 7 year old, cause who doesn't like flying x-wings.

The TIE Advanced is cool because of Darth Vader (though I guess the other pilots aren't that great) and because it adds a different option (slightly less maneuverable, way tougher to kill) to the Imperial side.
On the Rebel side, grabbing a Y-Wing or a B-Wing can get you some extra oomph and missiles (and some neat cards, besides). Y-Wings have turrets, B-Wings are all kinds of manueverable, both are equally hard to kill (8 HP) but the Y-Wing gets there via hull points while the B-Wing has more shields. Similarly, a TIE Bomber can really add some variety to the Imperial side.
The large ships - YT-1300 or Firespray - really bring a lot to the table and are great for scenarios; haven't played enough yet with the Shuttle to say whether or not it makes as big an impact.
The other pieces, IMHO, tend to be either more specialized (the Hawk is a team-support piece) or more finesse-based (A-Wings, Interceptors), and so may not be immediately necessary out of the gate.

I've had fun using ships that aren't in the competitive lists. Pick up what you think will be the most fun flying around the table.

5 extra core sets via target sale (game away 2- I might have gone a bit overboard here...)
(1) Xwing and (1) Tie expansion (for the cards- I love the options I picked up in here)
(1) Y Wing and (1) Tie-Advanced The TA was totally worth it. the Y-Wing...well...the ion cannon doesn't feel like it's worth 5 points to me, but more experienced players on here know better how to use it- so maybe the Y-wing should have been a later purchase once I'm better.
I put the rest on my Amazon birthday list so hopefully in a few weeks I'll have the MF!

One thing you might be disregarding:
The Ion Cannon has a 360-degree firing arc. You can just fly around the main scrum and harass enemies that go after more your tempting targets, and with a good R2 unit and its fairly beefy shield+hull values you can feel confident in letting a single Y-Wing wander about the battlefield without an escort. If somebody does begin to come after it, it can fire backwards and deter enemies from following too closely. Even better, a hit with the Ion Cannon only does 1 damage, but it gives you a guarantee of knowing where the enemy will end up in the next turn (barring barrel rolls or boosts), which lets you get in good position for the next turn.
Basically, a Y-Wing's not flashy, it's not going to bring its pilot glory in battle... but it will leave your opponent cursing and distracted.

Wrong thread, but yeah...
Justify it by thinking of them as being less expensive than, say, three other board games.
Whoops! Ha. Not sure how that happened!
