Also I had never seen the long version of that conversation, since my cipher nine is pure business and doesn't care about backstories

Glad everybody liked that. I think I've got at least one more Goldeneye reference to pull, but I'm thinking I'll do something a little different for the main event.

This idea ended up amusing me more than I thought, even though I'm not a wrestling fan. So I went whole hog. This character's raiding gear is still going to be legacy since it's a throwaway character and I have no plans to do work on it. But I'll use this as his PVP set, because it makes me laugh.

There is one very satisfying part of the class storyline on Alderaan. The rest of it (a.k.a. Killiks) was not very fun for me. I more or less did the class quests and peaced the fuck out of there.
I've been playing this as a F2P/preferred, keep waffling on whether or not I should subscribe... so far the biggest impact has been severe annoyance that every other quest has a lockbox that I can't get because of it.

just structurally, consular feels bizarrely out of place compared to like all the other storylines
Like normally even if I don't care for it much, the storylines still feel like they've been thought out and workshopped and designed to keep you eager to keep moving forward and all that other authorial craft stuff. You get rivals and big plotlines and stuff.
Consular doesn't really have anything memorable happen, you've got no like core personality. Like on the sith side they pretty obviously went, "OK, so sith warrior will be the more darth vader-ish types, the somewhat honorable but bloodthirsty warrior dudes. And inquisitor will be the manipulators, gathering followers, palpatine types."
For Jedi they were like, "OK, so jedi knight will be the warrior, saving planets and having slightly pulpy adventures, and then the consular will be... uhh... the boring other jedi who don't really do anything?"

I guarantee they are really not at all worth it
It's true, the quest reward lockboxes are just not that great.
The only exception was a set of cartel market items that when you click them gave you a series of cutscenes (and a consumable with each cutscene) at the end of which the reward was a full set of armor... in a box. Because the armor was one certain people had been looking for (it's the outfit Hunter in the Agent story wears), I know there was at least one PA person who subscribed just to be able to open that box.

Oh good, actually helps my brain a lot to hear that those aren't worth anything.
Planetary Commendations are worth more than those boxes
Seriously there is some great stuff you can get with those.
Before I subscribed I would reach the point where it would tell me I was almost at the cap for Comms about half way through a planet. (Partially because I would do FPs everyday but the experience penalty Preferred people get really hampers the speed at which I was leveling.) So I would be near the cap and still a long way from being able to upgrade because I wasn't quite high enough level to buy the next tier of stuff.

Codex Entry - Nar Shaddaa
The so-called “smuggler’s moon” is best known for one thing: anything can be bought here if the price is right. Nar Shaddaa orbits Hutta, homeworld of the Hutt Cartel, but exists as a power in its own right. Criminal organizations and legitimate enterprises operate side-by-side, regulated only by the Hutts’ whims. Gleaming skyscrapers house corporations, casinos, technology shops, spice houses and every other type of business imaginable.
Although no other world offers Nar Shaddaa’s unique services, the city has a notorious murder and disappearance rate. Gangsters, pirates, slavers and worse crowd the streets, and Republic and Imperial representatives compete for influence with the local powers. Strangers should be extremely cautious.
Minus the slavers, it sounds like my kind of place...
Any idea where I should start?
The last guy you set me up with was a colossal moron and a raging asshole.

So I was bored today and started a space muhreen trooper, and now I'm trying to make him as ridiculously huge as possible.
It's going well so far:
But now of course the question is, should I go for the big-ass dakka gun - a logical pairing with him, who looks sort of silly holding a little tiny rifle. But then he won't be able to be a tank, which while not really that important also would be quite satisfying.

So I started a consular beacuse ripping rocks out of the ground and hurting them at people sounded fun. Currently I'm on this class quest called Hunter's Eye where I have to inspect a stone in a cave. The moment I interact it starts a cutscene where Qyzen walks in and starts taking but then the scene does not advance at all past his first dialog. I can't skip past it. I tried backing out several times and logged out, in, quit fully, and reset the quest.
This seems like a pretty big game halting bug I got here.
Assuming I get past this bug, is anyone doing consular? I can try to post stuff if no one else is.

I ran into a similar bug where my Agent couldn't advance any quest that used the ship's holoterminal. After looking around online, it seemed like it the only way to fix it is to submit a ticket and pray that some tech will advance your quest for you. In my case, I was a preferred player, so they wouldn't do shit for me. So I had to install the game on a different PC to complete the quest.

Makeb became tedious on my Jedi Knight before I reached the end of it. I think I have to level a stealth character up next, trying to decide between a scoundrel and a shadow now.
I wish they would redo the space missions and/or add new ones using the system they were able to accomplish with the starfighter pvp expansion. Playing "try not to run into this thing we keep trying to make you run into" for the 30th time isn't especially enjoyable. It could even be set up like SWG was and have open sectors.

This story line rapidly degenerated into "Here is another guy who went crazy, go do magic on him please."
"Whoa, thanks for the magic, I don't remember shit about shit."
Repeat x20.
