Live Messenger thinks my keyboard is French

... but nothing else on my computer does. Like, typing right now, it doesn't do the "French" things that it does on Messenger.
The problem is that my apostrophe key and question mark key bring up French characters when typing in Messenger conversations. They make e's with accents or capital E's with accents if I hold the shift key. This only happens in Messenger conversations and only started yesterday.
I don't believe I changed any features or profiles or options about my keyboard, but I may have done it and not noticed. Anyone have any idea why this is happening and how to check/fix the problem? Thanks a bunch.
