[PA Comic] Wednesday, September 11, 2013 - The Tithe, Part Three
If you want to know more about the flowers and what they mean you should read the 6 part Lookouts comic book. http://www.comixology.com/search?search=lookouts I don't want to post any spoilers here. Thanks again guys.
I don't know how intentional it is, but I find the idea of part of a brain being replaced with anything horrifying. Remember those Xbox commercials where the gaping people are shown to have had their brains replaced with dioramas? This is hitting that same horror for me as those did. You don't just have branches attached to nothing. I assume they have roots extending into her skull. <shudder> The Lookouts have it easy.

I love the young lookout's expression in panel three. Priceless.
I'm curious who this woman/creature is.
I always love the Penny Arcade strips that have no dialogue. Mike is so good at communicating everything through the visuals.

The idea creeps me out too but I'm assuming the branches are more or less just a part of the skull, not rooting their way in to the brain.
I know nothing about the actual lookouts comic book. Like evething Penny Arcade, it seems like it requires way too much internet dwelling to know anything about it.
But I'm super curious about what the Daughters are, now. If the gorgeous art wasn't enough.
Huh. I look at the emotion on the lady's face and it's not joy or welcome.
It's something not quite like apprehension or pity, but something close.
What's the $10 word for, "I'm sorry for what you're about to go through"?
You have a rare disease known as Flowerheaditis. There is no cure for Flowerheaditis. But with proper medication you can learn to manage your condition so that you can live a healthy, happy and productive life.
I dunno. I got a bit of a 'Bow chicka bow wow' vibe from this one. The sensual eye contact suggests she is going to initiate her into womanhood. Girl scouts and tree nymphs...

If you think you find the head flowers creepy now, let me show you a panel from the Cryptozoic Lookouts comic.
Nice. I was wondering if they had nerve endings.

I really have to hand it to Mike here, You don't generally look at picture of some with flowers in their hair and wonder if they extend into their brain or if they hurt when you cut them. I love this setting.

Quit being a creep.

Meh. Some weirdo was bound to post a yucky comment eventually, what with female characters in this series being in the spotlight and all.

My love for this continues unabated.
I assumed that she was picking them as she went as a ritual adornment - your way makes more sense and is kind of creepy.
Nope nope nope nope nope.
The puns are going to be terrible.
I think she might be picking them up, but she had at least one in her hair when she was still in bed.
Yep. I thought they were leaves at first but now they're obviously buds and definitely about to blossom and tree lady has the same thing going.
That is really well done.
More like "The Tithe: Part Tree"

EDIT: Eh. I guess "pity" is sufficient.
