Need a wine that goes with crepes

HeraldSHeraldS Registered User regular
Anyone got a recommendation for a wine to go with desert crepes? Don't drink wine or eat crepes but I have to get both tomorrow. They'll be filled with fruit and nutella and whatever else goes in crepes. All help appreciated. Would prefer to keep it around $20-25 a bottle if possible and be able to purchase the wine at my local grocery store or wine emporium.

    Recommendations:
    • Graham's Porto Six Grapes: a personal favorite, widely-available Port-style wine that comes in a 750ml. Runs about $23-25/bottle.
    • Montevina Terra D'Oro Zinfandel Port: BevMo occasionally has this, so does Total Wine. The best dessert wine I have ever had is a Petit Syrah dessert wine made by a relatively small little vineyard that you have to order from directly. I have spent years looking for an adequate and more widely-available substitute - this is very close.
    • Jackson-Triggs Vidal Icewine: If you've never had icewine, there's nothing quite like it. At $20 for a 187, this cannot be an every-day habit. A special treat.

Any of the recommended whites would be fine. Moscatto is a good choice, ice wine if you want to impress.

I'm not huge on pairings, but port is the alcohol I know the most about and that Terre D'oro Zin Port is amaaaaazing.

Yeah, Barefoot has a new line of wines that are sort of sparkly almost like a champagne, with a very pleasant not overpowering sweetness and fruity flavors that I think would go really well with what you are talking about. You should be able to find them in the refrigerated wine section.
