[PATV] Friday, September 27, 2013 - Extra Credits Season 7, Ep. EH 04: Extra History: The Conclusion
Hey, Allison is back!
Also, the extra history episodes are great. I think I remember there being a link to another history youtube series on one of these episodes; it was a classroom mock-up, and they covered history and literature and all sorts of stuff but I can't remember the name of the show. Anyone remember?
Also; been watching since you guys were on the escapist, keep up the good work.
I WANT MOAAAAAAAAAR!!!!!! This was such a great series, and I want more. Though I might stay away from creative assembly, some.....interesting quotes recently came out about them and their policy regarding metacritic.
This series was brilliant. If you guys started a YouTube channel or similar, here is one subscriber right here. This is how history should be taught in school.
"Myth, history, and some dry stones in the desert sand."
Reminds me of a certain poem.
I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desart. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed:
And on the pedestal these words appear:
"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.
These history segments are quite fun, more entertaining than the standard ones even. It'd be cool if there was a sort of tie in article looking at how some game successfully hits upon these historic moments and demonstrates an educational game or something of that ilk.
Made an account just to thank you guys for making these. The Punic Wars were an interesting and pivotal point in history and i feel you guys did better discussing it than anyone.
Please don't stop these. Try to fit them in every now and again.
@Beleester - They eventually concluded (in like the third revisit) that it could, however, be an effective way to cripple the enemy's ability to attack, because it's REALLY hard to aim when you can see naught but the glare of the sun.
it’s such a shame that in Rome 2 carthage always get wiped out by the ai in a few turns, unsurprising considering how most of their historical territory belongs to their vassals.
I just picked up dynasty warrior 8. Yes 8, as in we made 8 (well really more like 20+) game using the exact same setting. But I keep picking it up every few year because the gameplay is pretty unique and nobody else does it. So I just watch this and goes... that would be awesome! C'mon Koei.
Please more of this. This is some of your best work, in many games, and even applies to games.
In particular the battle against monsters part. Things like this - historical connections to things we may encounter in games, without noticing - would be something I'd love to see you tackle more often.
I work in the online ad space and wanted to make sure you got a quick ROI shout out here.
Saw these videos... LOVED THEM... and purchased the game. Great use of online ad dollars. Wish more advertisers out there put money into content like this.

Does that mean I am a sucker for suggestive advertising?

What do you mean you missed the game stuff? They've been covering video game topics every Wednesday like normal and doing this series on Fridays.
Beer is the perfect lubricant for twisted and vile animal gibberish. I use it myself when the times are ripe and my need great.
