Fan cycling doesn't work due to my model (80 GB CECHExx), so how do I get my disc out?

How attached are you to the dead console? Is there any chance of getting it fixed?

I had one go YLOD awhile back, and since it wasn't worth the trouble for me to get it repaired, I just carefully took the whole thing apart to get to the disc. Obviously if you do this there's probably no turning back. There's no manual release for the disc as far as I can tell, it requires power, which doesn't work for some reason with YLOD.

Reassembling it is a little bit harder, as you have to make sure you get the rollers aligned properly. I fixed my YLOD, but I can't quite get it to read the disc after I took a previous one out. (Well, that and it still overheats and shuts down after around 30 minutes).

Other than a full disassemble if your model number isn't listed I think you are SOL short of sending it in.

Using the hair dryer trick (Google it) might temporarily fix your PS3 long enough to get your disc back out and maybe, maybe back up your saved games.
