Help me - I have voicemail writer's block

DrezDrez Registered User regular
So, I donated $200 for the Jonathan Coulton Kickstarter. Included at this level is a voicemail message that I can script but JoCo will record, potentially even sing.

Thing is, I can't really come up with anything that isn't either boring or stupid.

So I'm just looking for some advice - some creative nudges or whatever.

I find Archer's voicemails to be pretty hilarious, but I don't know how well they would work in this context. I also would expect there to be a bunch of others who would suggest a similar thing.
But that might get you started?

If you make a pair of rhyming couplets, he's probably more likely to sing it. Is your name something that's easy to rhyme with?

Think 4 lines, two rhymes, something about phones or calling back. Don't try to be funny; come up with a couple and then see about making them humorous, if you want funny. Maybe work Jonathan Coulton in there somehow so it's not just some random person recording your message when you're contacted by people who don't know who he is.

"Hello, this is famed internet celebrity and feral man impersonator Jonathan Coulton. [Your name] can't come to the phone right now, so here's a guitar solo."

"Hello, this is musician Jonathan Coulton. You've probably never heard of me which is why I'm doing this voicemail for Drez. Leave a message and I will sing it to him later."

"Hi, this is musician Jonathan Coulton. You may remember me from the hit show Glee. Leave a message for Drez now."
