SPACE CHOICES IN SPACE!
Worst combat pilot ever.
chair to Creation and then suplex the Void.
Law and Order ≠ Justice
As someone who just recently discovered this (no I don't know why it took me so long) and was very confused at the shame fleet/lifetime insurance discussion in here, could this get added to the OP? Very useful (and dangerous to my wallet) info.
*edit* So if I'm understanding this correctly, if I'm interested in the Arbiter ($80) package, but with the LTI upgrade, I need to buy $80 worth of whatever from the store, wait 24hrs, then transfer that to someone here who can then liquedate it, and buy the package + gift it back to me? And this gets me all the goodies like alpha/beta access, credits, etc? Or can you only do this with standalone ship purchases?
Law and Order ≠ Justice
Note: I typed this on my phone in bed last night and could have sworn I hit Submit...then I passed out.
That's exactly how it works. OG backers, like myself, can still purchase the originally-available physical and electronic game packages and gift them away (I got one for my brother as a thank-you for putting a desk together for me while I was out of the house).
You can buy an Arbiter package for yourself, I think, but it 1) costs more and 2) only comes with, like, 4-month insurance instead of lifetime insurance.
You can also do it with stand-alone ship purchases.

Price is the same (both are $80 based on the earliest list in thread, unless you see a diff price), so the only diff (albeit a huge one) is LTI versus 4 month Insurance. Does it matter what crap I buy for $80?
Sorry, another though occured on this. So if I were to buy the Advanced Hunter Package, am I then gifting the whole package to the person, or just the ship itself, and if just the ship how do I determine the value of the ship?
You'd be gifting the package as a whole.

And done. So tomorrow I'll just need someone to help switch out packages!
You can gift it to them now, they'll just have to wait 24 hours from the date of purchase to melt it.
EDIT: Or I guess any game with a cash shop.
I think there's probably alot of that.
Then Valve's sitting back and going 'bah, you think that's impressive, guess how much my low poly hats that I don't even have to make myself are getting me'.
Oh...and reading between the lines on this next stretch goal makes my wang uncontrollably hard.
Basically they're promising Guns of Icarus in space at that point? Yeah, I want that.

I'm keep hoping for a FTL like phone/tablet interface that can be used for cap ship stuff. If they pull in travel time it would be nifty to get a "ping" on mobile device when something happens to a bound ship/fleet,and still be able to coordinate npc's, bulkhead doors, and support functions.
There would be no escape from the game at that point though...
HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG....
Damn you Chris Roberts! From the bottom of my soon to be empty wallet, I stab at thee!

*Edit* Found it.

"Finally, one small change to the Hornet rollout. We’ve had a number of requests from backers eager to purchase the limited edition Super Hornet who will not be able to do so until the end of the month. Federal employees in the United States who are just getting back to work after the recent government shutdown are especially affected. We are grateful for your passion and would like to help however possible. With this in mind, we are going to keep the Super Hornet available an extra week through Monday, November 4th. We hope that helps give all of our existing backers an opportunity to upgrade to the F7C-M!"
Nope. When you take someone prisoner, you get some sort of token and not the actual person. The actual person gets some sort of cut scene/scenario that describes their outcome. This is specifically so you CAN'T grief someone by locking them in your cargo hold indefinitely.
