After seeing what they did with the hornets i'm just hoping they come out with some Gladiator variants.

I cannot believe I have spent 470 dollars on this game.... and I will probably get an avenger varient when I can.... .... I think maybe I will sell my aurora LN.. I dont need that many fighters do I ? I mean... will I even fly the LN if I have an avenger, 325a, cutlass, and hornet? I mean really? I am tempted to melt the cutlass as well, but I think it could be a good salvage ship. I would sell my 325a but it has a bed and saving in deepspace could be nice since the hornet and avenger won't have that option...

I'm pretty sure there will be many other ships to buy, steal, beg, borrow. I mean, Pokémon Y gave me 3 free starter monsters, but I'm up to 70 now.

Oh, to be a fly on the wall of the meetting room of the fictional marketing firm that would have made that commercial in the game world.

    Worst combat pilot ever.

To be fair, the Aurora pilot probably did not want to destroy the last pint of Americone Dream in the sector.

Default ship equipment (which is replaced via LTI if your ship is destroyed) can be found here.

The mechanics are the new person determines the cost of what they want. They then purchase other things from the store equal to that price (this also gets them Backer status; woohoo!). Then, they wait 24 hours, because items purchased from the store have a delay before they can be turned into credit. After 24 hours, the new person uses the in-store gifting option to send his purchases to the Original Backer. Gifts, in the past, could take up to several hours to appear, but CIG seems to have solved that issue and they appear in a couple minutes.

The Original Backer then takes these items and cashes them in for store credit (colloquially referred to as "melting them down") and adds the new person's items to their cart. When checking out, the Backer can press a button on the check-out screen to apply store credit, and enters in the right amount. After checkout goes through, the Original Backer can then send the items back using the in-hangar gift option (which, again, only takes a couple minutes to process now).

As someone who just recently discovered this (no I don't know why it took me so long) and was very confused at the shame fleet/lifetime insurance discussion in here, could this get added to the OP? Very useful (and dangerous to my wallet) info.

*edit* So if I'm understanding this correctly, if I'm interested in the Arbiter ($80) package, but with the LTI upgrade, I need to buy $80 worth of whatever from the store, wait 24hrs, then transfer that to someone here who can then liquedate it, and buy the package + gift it back to me? And this gets me all the goodies like alpha/beta access, credits, etc? Or can you only do this with standalone ship purchases?

When the Hornet does the "handbrake" maneuver on the Hornet and then proceeds to unload with a huge chain cannon and all the lasers I heard a faint whimpering coming from the direction of my wallet. I mean I'm still pretty happy with the 325A I currently have, but looking at the evident difference in firepower is giving me an anti-boner. Although that's kinda what I'd expect for double the price.

I'm going to have to prioritise PC hardware over spaceship hardware though, because goddamn I need to play this game at 4k res.

I kinda suspect 4K rez is going to be somewhat similar to maxing out Crysis when it came out. Highly unlikely to be particuarly playable even with top range stuff.

Also I'm tempted to go in for a cheaper pack just for alpha/beta access.
4K resolution is probably going to be fairly common before Star Citizen comes out. We still have a couple years of hardware upgrades to contend with.

I think 4k will happen before or around the launch of Star Citizen in 2015 (keep in mind we're almost to 2014) but I don't think it will be common. 1440p is not even common right now. The expense will be very big, just for the monitor itself, but also for the graphics card(s) necessary to drive modern games at a resolution that high. 4GB minimum RAM, probably two GPUs, and preferably the monitor is GSYNC enabled.

It seems like non-pilots will have a lot of career options, which I appreciate. Not sure how they'll make it all happen but I imagine if they can get the mechanics down for operating large ships and defending your home bay.

That's exactly how it works. OG backers, like myself, can still purchase the originally-available physical and electronic game packages and gift them away (I got one for my brother as a thank-you for putting a desk together for me while I was out of the house).

You can buy an Arbiter package for yourself, I think, but it 1) costs more and 2) only comes with, like, 4-month insurance instead of lifetime insurance.
Or can you only do this with standalone ship purchases?

You can also do it with stand-alone ship purchases. :D

Price is the same (both are $80 based on the earliest list in thread, unless you see a diff price), so the only diff (albeit a huge one) is LTI versus 4 month Insurance. Does it matter what crap I buy for $80?

Nope, you could buy 16 of those $5 skin upgrades if they still sell them. It's kind of a pain in the ass though because you'd have to gift all of them to a launderer (like myself!). So if you can buy as few things as possible (like 1 thing) that's worth $80 that would be ideal.

Enhanced Capital Ship Systems – In addition to the command and control systems we’ve already outlined, we’re going to expand capital ship functions! Lead a damage control team to fight fires and repair key systems during battle, control internal bulkheads to slow boarders and man a number of consoles, like navigation and engineering, that will make commanding a capital ship feel even more immersive.

Oh...and reading between the lines on this next stretch goal makes my wang uncontrollably hard.

I'm keep hoping for a FTL like phone/tablet interface that can be used for cap ship stuff. If they pull in travel time it would be nifty to get a "ping" on mobile device when something happens to a bound ship/fleet,and still be able to coordinate npc's, bulkhead doors, and support functions.

There would be no escape from the game at that point though...

The two seater is a limited ship and not the base model much like the 350r. So you can't install a second seat in a regular Hornet chassis. However, all the other variants are the base model with different equipment installed. For instance, you can always just buy a regular Hornet and then find stealth gear in the game.

I thought the date was extended by a week because of the government shutdown. People asked Chris Roberts to give them more time to get their finances in order because they lost out on money and he actually listened.

    *Edit* Found it.
Finally, one small change to the Hornet rollout. We’ve had a number of requests from backers eager to purchase the limited edition Super Hornet who will not be able to do so until the end of the month. Federal employees in the United States who are just getting back to work after the recent government shutdown are especially affected. We are grateful for your passion and would like to help however possible. With this in mind, we are going to keep the Super Hornet available an extra week through Monday, November 4th. We hope that helps give all of our existing backers an opportunity to upgrade to the F7C-M!

Nope. When you take someone prisoner, you get some sort of token and not the actual person. The actual person gets some sort of cut scene/scenario that describes their outcome. This is specifically so you CAN'T grief someone by locking them in your cargo hold indefinitely.
