QI - fuck you Rory Mcgrath

I am very dissappointed with all of you. there is no current QI thread!

what is QI you might ask and I am very happy you asked. QI is a comedy panel quiz show. lots of those around. how did QI manage to stick around long enough to have recently entered season eleven?

one reason is that QI stands for quite interesting. it is badly named though and should have rather been called Quite Entertaining, FUCK (please call me BBC). the premise of the show is to ask the questions most of us kind of think we know the answer to because we got told the answer ages ago in high school or read in some magazine (back when they still made them) or on cracked.com..... the twist is that all of those things you believe you know are shockingly incorrect. the bonus is that contestants have to strive to be funny rather than right.

not good enough for you? alright, we are negotiating here.

QI is hosted by this guy:

[img][/img]8j3GWZb.jpg

somebody somewhere might recognize that guy.

if you have any interest in British comedy/comedians or in fun at all or even just in science while having no sense of humour at all this is a show that is for you. though I appreciate people who are against fun.

QI airs on the BBCs but is readily available on the youtubes where you will even be able to enjoy full episodes.

speaking of the youtubes I would be doing my job of fanboying all over that show very poorly if I did not give you some theyoutube clips of what you can expect.

so, you lazy sods, what was you favourite QI moment? how awesome is it that this thread just revealed this gem?

I have watched QI for several years, and can confirm that it is consistently witty, unrelentingly entertaining, dazzlingly fabulous, and, yes, quite interesting.

Stephen Fry is basically my favourite person of all time. So I mean, I'm predisposed to like any show he heads.

But even apart from that QI is just so fantastic.

Also as cliché as it is by now, the best moment is still clear this many years later.

personally I find atheists to be just as aggravating as theists. atheists tend to leave my private parts and my eating habits alone though so I don't mind them as much.

The transphobic stuff he has said is pretty not great either.

But, more often than not he is enjoyable to listen to.

But sometimes... sometimes not so much.

I don't know if he is like, actively transphobic or if he just hasn't given some of his opinions on some matters much thought.

But during one bit on QI he was talking about "ladyboys" and how some blokes are very convincing and can easy trick men.

It was pretty bad. Probably coming out of a place of ignorance rather than malice, but still bad.

I see one incident involving a transphobic remark from Stephen Fry, and that happened three years ago. It's Old News, as far as I can see.

Ah, perhaps I am just behind the times then. Also, the internet being what it is, old news sometimes can feel like it isn't. It may have happened three years ago, but I watched it for the first time a lot more recently than that. That said, if he has improved his opinion on the matter since then than, well, all is forgiven. Because really that is all you can reasonably ask of a person, that they learn.

No he was not. But, as now pointed out, it as something quite in the past and pretty much all just water under the bridge now.

Which makes me happy, as I generally quite like Stephen Fry.

I especially love his views on language, and how language evolves, and how ridiculous people who try to fight against the change of language are.

I mostly agree with him there, but there's a part of me that cannot accept people using "of" when they mean "have"
