Hometown Story

Anyone else feeling like they really dropped the ball here? I've played for hours on end and can't seem to get into it. So mundane and boring. The graphics suck and there's nothing to do. Every time I expand my shop my excitement lasts for less than a game day. Regretting my $40 purchase. :(

I don't think the game's graphics are too bad, but I'm regretting my purchase a little bit as well. There's nothing going on, outside of standing in the store all day and making a few sales. There's no town to speak of, and nothing to do outside of running around to see what you might find on the ground that you can sell. I'm assuming the town expands as your store grows, but I have no idea what to do. There's a few people I can talk to, but it doesn't trigger any kind of events. Some kid offered to take me on an expedition or something, but he wanted a toy robot first. I got him the robot, but now he just says the same one liner from when I first met him.

Maybe I'll look up a guide or something. I feel like there has to be more to this game, and it just doesn't do a good job of letting you know about it.

For the robot quest, I exited my store and it sparked a cutscene. But yeah there's zero tutorial for this game. And to expand your store, you have to talk to the carpenter guys and give them wood. Nothing in the town makes sense to me. I read this was supposed to be harvest moon with retail instead of farming, but this is nothing like harvest moon games. Such a letdown.

Also when you get a quest there's no way to track them. Natsume says on their twitter feed that they keep track of theirs with a paper and pencil. Really?? So lame.

Not that it sounds like it would be worth doing, but maybe update the OP with a link and some info as to what game this even is?

Hometown Story is a 3DS game that was released on Tuesday.

Game overview from Nintendo's site: http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/f-3GJSRwNa35t6VuRqHQOBH_SBgqNUlD
A Tale of Life, Love, and Friendship!
Hometown Story takes you to a lush, green village tucked away in the countryside. The shop you inherited has brought you back to your hometown. However, the shop has become run down, and no one wants to even window shop there anymore. Can you turn the shop around and even expand it, or is it destined to stay in the red forever?
You won't have to go it alone, though. You'll get help from a magical sprite named Pochica, who will help you get the store back up and running, and introduce you to all of the unique characters who reside in the town. The villagers will all change and grow throughout the game, and that person who you thought might be up to no good when you first met them just might have a heart of gold! Your experiences will be completely different from anyone else's. You'll never know what to expect in Hometown Story!

Basically you create a male or female character, and you find out from a Pokemon that your grandmother has passed away and left you her store. It's supposed to be similar to Harvest Moon, but instead of farming, you run this shop in town. You're just dumped into the game with little info on what or how to do anything. It's been pretty disappointing so far...
