Don't shop at Payless, you might get the cops called on you.
I have 4 children and over the years my wife and I have spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars buying shoes for my kids and ourselves in Payless stores, mainly due to their standing Buy One Get One 50% off deal. (Despite the lackluster quality of the product)
Today, I visited a local Payless after I got out of work to get a last minute pair of boots for my daughters field trip tomorrow. Instead, the staff called the police to report me as a suspicious person, have me ejected from the store, and say that I am never allowed back.
And this all happened after I had a discussion with the staff about what I needed and why, what price range I was looking for, and then even brought the boots I wanted up to the counter and told them I just had to wait for my wife to call me back to confirm the shoe sizes. The staff even joked with me for a moment about how they were "pissed off" about the behavior of some customers that had just left the store shortly after I entered. The reason they called the police is because I was "pacing" near the back of the store (I was actually browsing all around the store, but did stay towards the back so as not to be in others peoples way), because my wife was at work and like I said, I was waiting for her phone call.
I attempted to contact their 1-800 customer service about this incident but they are closed. I will certainly be complaining to the store manager and district manager. Is this how paying customers get treated nowadays? Hassle them and treat them like criminals? Luckily I was spared todays near $100 purchase from Payless, but I am still livid about this treatment. I'm so upset I'm beside myself, and honestly don't even know what to do with myself. What would you all do?
