[WOW] I guess there's an Expansion coming out this year ? Maybe ?
Who has time for yet ANOTHER class and race? Making the current ones better is a much higher priority for me than going through lots of old content, just with a different model or class.
Apparently it involves Garrosh escaping from trial and using some friend of his that can do some time travelling to go back and rebuild the Orcish horde in a better ideal. Not drinking the blood, not blowing the planet up, etc, as a way to enact revenge onto the present times.

Q: How does the Garrison work? What kinds of followers and upgrades are available?
To establish a foothold on Draenor and bolster your faction’s defenses against the formidable Iron Horde, each player will need to build and manage their own Garrison, a customizable fortress that serves as your personal base of operations throughout the course of the expansion. As you complete quests and win allies to your cause, your Garrison will expand and you’ll be able to choose which upgrades you’d like to construct from a variety of options. You’ll also meet and recruit NPC allies and followers who will join you at the Garrison, each providing different benefits.
For example, a miner rescued from a dungeon might take up residence and help gather Mining resources. A heroic warrior you quarter might embark upon quests at your command, with a chance to return with valuable treasures. Other characters might provide you with quests that expand upon their own stories or lead you to valuable assets in your campaign.
When it comes time to upgrade your Garrison, you might choose to build a Barracks to send more followers on missions simultaneously, an Inn to provide new recruits, or an Infirmary to speed up injured followers’ recovery time between assignments. You may instead decide to build a Smithy and recruit a Blacksmith to research new plans and craft valuable resources (such as those with daily cooldowns). You’ll also be able to invite friends to visit your Garrison to trade resources and see how your home base stacks up against their own.

if that 'build you garrison' thing is meant to be player housing, then I'm blown away by how far it misses the mark
I hope it's guild housing. Like, you have a mini guild town and your guild has to work to build it up. That sounds semi-interesting.
And we were just speculating a couple of folders down about all of the WAR stuff that didn't work...
My suspicion is that Blizzard will hold off and see how well the player housing in WILDSTAR goes over. If it's a big success, they can easily adapt your farm/garrison to housing.
They were never going to add a new race given the model revamp. New class seems to be an every other thing, and they still need to fix monks so probably not terribly trigger happy with another one.
Wish i wasn't at work so i could see this stuff. will it be archived with the virtual ticket?
While no new race/class because of model revamp is reasonable, I bet it will go over as well as Cata with the new old world--sure, it was needed, but most wondered where the "new" stuff was
Goblins and Worgen ?
I'm just reiterating a common perspective, not saying it was rational
I really like how they are bringing the focus back to Beyond the Dark Portal. While the Arthas story was always my favorite, the Warcraft II x-pac was pretty darn solid for the time.
Plus...well...I've got a soft heart for Burning Crusade. That was the most time I ever spent in WoW and it was just such a great follow up to Vanilla.

Ok...that sounds fucking incredible. If that makes it in as described....
We’re still in the process of determining which races will be available upon the expansion’s release, but our goal is to update all eight of the original World of Warcraft playable races, along with the Draenei and Blood Elves, over the course of the expansion launch and subsequent content updates.
So that's a confirmation, not all races will be complete as of the expansion launch.
Wow.

In the OP, Post 1 will be the MOP stuff, Post 2 will be the WOD news as it's released.
"To help new and returning players answer the call to arms on Draenor, the expansion will enable anyone to instantly boost one character to level 90, including a newly created character, quickly getting them up to speed and ready to enjoy the latest content with their friends."
EDIT: Good luck leveling your tradeskills!
EDIT2: Maybe I'll finally have a cloth wearing class.

I thought this was more or less verified fairly recently by GC.

He definitely hinted toward it, but I had hoped that we'd be getting at least a new race with the expansion so it didn't bother me too much. I mean, not to diminish their efforts too much here, but looking at the current status of the 'new models', it's a touch-up at best. Unless the animations are wildly different, they're not terribly different from what we have today. I had hoped that we'd at least get rid of the hunchback Horde, but that doesn't appear to be the case.
Edit: So's not to be a total Debbie Downer:
With that in mind, we’re adding some fun new stats to gear, such as Movement Speed and Cleave, which gives you a chance to do extra damage or healing to additional nearby targets. In addition, we’ll be retiring a few stats that players don’t find very enjoyable to manage, such as Hit and Expertise

The character models are significantly more significant than just a "touch-up".
I don't really mind not having a new class. At this point there are enough classes that I would prefer any new and interesting mechanical stuff just be distributed among them.
New races would be fun but unless they're just going to invent something new a la draenei, what's left? Ogres? (blah) Brokens? Most of the races we know of are playable by now

As a Warcraft fan since Orcs and Humans, I'm geeking the fuck out right now.
I grew up with the rts games, I remember having to use a dos prompt on Warcraft, and I love those games...doesn't mean I want to play them from a different perspective.
This expansion feels like a carryover expansion in-between SoO and what they really want to do after this expansion. Maybe after the dev talk I'll change that opinion but it seems kind of...lazy?

True, I'm just a bit frustrated and disappointed. They do have more articulated joints and better animated faces. I suppose I just set my expectations a bit too high.
One of our goals for Warlords of Draenor is to make the act of finding and collecting loot even more exciting for players. With that in mind, we’re adding some fun new stats to gear, such as Movement Speed and Cleave, which gives you a chance to do extra damage or healing to additional nearby targets. In addition, we’ll be retiring a few stats that players don’t find very enjoyable to manage, such as Hit and Expertise. We’re also making improvements to armor itemization that will make it easier to share armor pieces across classes. We’ll have more details to share as development continues.
the lore is dumb as shit, but at least they're making good mechanic changes
hopefully that 'easier to share gear' bit means that each class will only need one set of gear for all specs

also I wonder if they're trying to roll out the model updates on what they view as the basis of need, or if orcs and dwarves are just what got done first. Orcs and dwarves would definitely not have been at the top of my bad models list
hold your head high soldier, it ain't over yet

I hope so. If they don't fix certain specs (Looking at you fire mages) then you NEED reforging to actually make the spec useful. Plus the way haste breakpoints work, I hope they either change that or keep the reforging.
Wonder if they will keep reforging after getting rid of the unfun stats.
I hope they drop it, honestly. Reforging is virtually entirely for those stats. Yeah each class has their 'primary' but without having itemization wasted on hit/expertise, the need for reforging drops to almost nil.

Lore wise, I just can't get excited about killing off the HEROES of the Horde. I know it's in the past or an alternate time line or whatever, but really?
Mechanics wise, I'm actually happy to see some of the changes listed so far.

Fortunately, every one of those heroes are already dead in the current lore; so offing some of them again won't be a big deal. :P
I wonder what they're gonna do as an intro patch for this, 5.5 should be interesting.

Pretty sure it's supposed to be a more war-appropriate version of your farm.
I hope it's guild housing. Like, you have a mini guild town and your guild has to work to build it up. That sounds semi-interesting.
I see (what I think anyway) Doomhammer, Bladefist, Durotan, Grom, Guldan, Ner'zhul.
I don't recognize the one second from the bottom left, though I feel like I should.
