The biggest age difference I've ever had with a partner has been 14 years. It was kind of weird, but not too much.

    8 years for me

    (I was the younger partner)

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.

the "no true scotch man" fallacy.

So I went out. And there was a nachspel. The ex was there (and the two of my favourite girls as I talked about in the past)

when it was time for everyone to go me and the ex had to walk in the same directionth

for about fifty meters and then we stood and talked about whatever

eventually I was thinking "without this meaning anything, can I kiss you because I really want to right now"

but that question never came to pass because she was thinking along the same lines

so yay girl drama has another actor

which is a shame because the comedy is a lot of fun

the whole show is like this really delicate confection and if there was too much srs bzns violence and death it would feel weird and inappropriate

Yeah, it walks this tight rope of the characters being thieves, con men, hacks and hitters but it works in a way you can cheer for regularly. Too much seriousness and you kill the style aspect.

that was kind of my problem with Burn Notice sometimes. the subject matter would feel at odds with the light-hearted USA style.

Yeah, it worked for the first two seasons but then it became a drag on the series. It did make those moments when Michael did kill that much more effective for dramatic purposes.

Yeah I was the older in that pairing. The biggest age difference with an older woman has been, I think, less than two years.

exactly, yeah. and after year 2 was when it started being a problem for me as well. I would have been ok with the show getting more serious - especially since it was pretty successful and you'd think the producers would have earned more latitude fromt he network - but it just started feeling schizophrenic instead.

I did really like the glimpses we would get of how dark Michael could be.

Yeah, and with the other problems that started popping up (Jessie, hey why do we never leave Miami?) it became a problem. The final season was pretty good. Not as good as seasons 1 and 2 but we see Michael going dark, he kills people, and they leave Miami fairly often. If it had a lot less Fiona it would have been great. But the episode where he gets trapped in the bank robbery in season 2 is one of my favorite takes on that kind of ship in a bottle/hostage episodes.

I remember putting the pilot of Leverage on at my friend Shawn's house and we were sitting there watching it, not really knowing anything about it except that some internet friends had told me it was good. We had no what to expect and thought it would be this kind of serious crime thing. That last scene at the end of the first episode, where he's talking to the family whose daughter was poisoned by chemical runoff and tells them "they think they're above the law - but we provide Leverage," we just turned to each other with big happy grins. Discovering a show that satisfies you like that always feels like being let in on a cool secret.

    Mindfulness is supposed to help

    Notice your breath

Redirect your thoughts when your mind wanders, keep redirecting to just noticing your own breath

    It takes practice
