The weird thing about leverage is that TNT's promotion of it early on left out the comedy elements so it came off as a super serious kind of show from the promos.
Oh uh we have a game tomorrow don't we.
Nope, the 17th. You guys will make the best good guys.

which is a shame because the comedy is a lot of fun
the whole show is like this really delicate confection and if there was too much srs bzns violence and death it would feel weird and inappropriate
Yeah, it walks this tight rope of the characters being thieves, con men, hacks and hitters but it works in a way you can cheer for regularly. Too much seriousness and you kill the style aspect.
that was kind of my problem with Burn Notice sometimes. the subject matter would feel at odds with the light-hearted USA style.

Yeah, it worked for the first two seasons but then it became a drag on the series. It did make those moments when Michael did kill that much more effective for dramatic purposes.

Yeah I was the older in that pairing. The biggest age difference with an older woman has been, I think, less than two years.

exactly, yeah. and after year 2 was when it started being a problem for me as well. I would have been ok with the show getting more serious - especially since it was pretty successful and you'd think the producers would have earned more latitude fromt he network - but it just started feeling schizophrenic instead.
I did really like the glimpses we would get of how dark Michael could be.

They also make zzzquil which is just the sleepy medication
Ohhh I keep forgetting that that is a thing now!
Definitely need to try it.
Yeah, I would not take NyQuil every night or anything, but those nights where I just never get tired at all for no reason? That would be a good night for it. :P

Yeah, and with the other problems that started popping up (Jessie, hey why do we never leave Miami?) it became a problem. The final season was pretty good. Not as good as seasons 1 and 2 but we see Michael going dark, he kills people, and they leave Miami fairly often. If it had a lot less Fiona it would have been great. But the episode where he gets trapped in the bank robbery in season 2 is one of my favorite takes on that kind of ship in a bottle/hostage episodes.
Still more or less together. (Distance suuuuuucks)

I remember putting the pilot of Leverage on at my friend Shawn's house and we were sitting there watching it, not really knowing anything about it except that some internet friends had told me it was good. We had no what to expect and thought it would be this kind of serious crime thing. That last scene at the end of the first episode, where he's talking to the family whose daughter was poisoned by chemical runoff and tells them "they think they're above the law - but we provide Leverage," we just turned to each other with big happy grins. Discovering a show that satisfies you like that always feels like being let in on a cool secret.
Anyone who tried that kind of bullshit would be getting some kind of food thrown on them

I pondered so hard how to get the lawyer to provide that line but it just didn't work. But I wanted too so badly.
When I was 18, I was with someone 9 years older than me.
I had no problem with it at all, except for years later when she told me how awful she felt about it because it felt like she had taken advantage of me. That gave me a "WTF?" response. :P

I recently had to pick up some melatonin because my newest job is so mind-numbing and boring and easy that I have trouble sleeping. First time I've actually used a sleep aid before...

for about fifty meters and then we stood and talked about whatever
eventually I was thinking "without this meaning anything, can I kiss you because I really want to right now"
but that question never came to pass because she was thinking along the same lines

I keep telling myself to start taking NyQuil to help me not be an insomniac. I don't know why I don't just start taking it.
I'm doing the right thing. And everything will be okay.
This is p much the #1 reason I never watched it until like, just now

Because then you will be an insomniac who is an even worse insomniac without regular doses of NyQuil.
It's not good to take every night, it's a pretty nasty medication in a few ways
Have you tried a strong does of melatonin a few hours before bed? That shit makes it difficult for me to stay awake 3 mg 3 hrs before bed

...although i watched like 7 episodes straight today and i think i might have all of the nightmares. all of them.
this has nothing to do with your desire for con man shows i'm just sharing my amazon prime viewing history cuz
So does good sleep hygiene. (Turn the lights down and avoid monitors/tv screens 30 minutes before bed)
